Yeah...that looks misleading now. The valuable asset is the buyout...not Komi.
But I still think there are worse defensmen on NHL rosters right now. - djamon
That, I agree with. That guy's confidence is completely shot. For the last... 4-5 years. insane. |

I think Clarkson brings a lot more to the team , and when cap goes back up his money wont be so bad. Plus , good chance he takes less to come home. Wouldn't bet on it, but wouldn't be shocked either . |

I think you'd have to sweeten the pot a little for Toronto. We were pretty happy with JVR's season. Still a lot of room for improvement, but overall, we were happy.
My point was that Schenn seems to be a better value than Coburn - younger, higher on depth chart, etc. (you may beg to differ). So you aren't going to get JVR back for less value.
As for your question, Schenn really, really stagnated in Toronto. Horribly. He couldn't be trusted by the end of it with important minutes - he was that bad.
When he was traded, everyone here said "I hope a change of scenery gets his career back on track." Looks like that was the case, and most here are happy to see that. - Atomic Wedgie
there should be a red asterisk beside Luke Schen's stats during his last two seasons in Toronto... the asterisk refers the reader to the page describing one "Ron Wilson". |

Nonis sure didn't do himself any favors by talking down Grabovski, regarding his trade value...ehh doesn't matter I guess, he's staying anyway at this point... |

I think Colin is Berger, he has been going on a twitter love fest with getting Stastny. - LeafMan
because he is the youngest best option available to make a trade for at arguably a low rate compared to other top centers |

This assumes that the managers or owners of other teams are desperate enough to get rid of their bad contracts, that they are willing to give up a quality asset to do it. The owners are rich guys, these teams are hobbies to them. They are more likely to bite the bullet on a buyout themselves rather than had over an asset to an opposing team. - vermie22
I didn't appear that Mr Aquellini had the appetite for a buyout of Mr. Luongo. |

I really do wonder if Nonis and his team of guys laughed when Bozak came to them with his latest proposal...how could they keep a straight face? |

In my opinion, the nucks were stupid to begin with handling luongo like that... honestly i think luongo is better than schneider, especially when it comes to playoffs. When the nucks shoved schneider in net in the playoffs this year and when luongo was playing when schneider was hurt or whatever, luongo played really good... "the team in front of him sucked and was the problem". Either way i would of rather given up schneider and got a better package before hand for him this is when don cherry said trade him while hes hot to get an amazing package but Gillis was too stupid to do so. But finally they got the better package for one of their goalies, luongo will have to suck it up, and he will now remain #1 |

I've never seen such an average player ask for that amount of term in a contract, he's asking for 8 years like he's a superstar. |

the guys a number 2 centre at best. number 1 by default last in the past... no #2 gets an 8 year deal....if he wants 8, give him no more then $4 mil per. at least he should be moveable if he doesnt perform. and if he does, its a steal for the leafs! |

The Gomez deal, at first, wasn't terrible as Gomez was still somewhat productive and the habs made it to the conference finale by beating the Pens and Caps. The year after that, though... urgh.
Regarding Schneider, am I the only one under the impression that Tortorella told Gillis "I wanna keep Luongo"? - Pecafan Fan
not a chance.
Gillis was in a corner... and had to do something. Aquellini probably told him "no 3x+M$ buyout on my ticket. There is no way, as hard as Gillis is going to try to look composed coming out of this that Gillis got fair market value for a "top goalie" - not even close.
Even with Schneider's salary off the books, Vancouver has something in the range of 7/8 roster spots to fill with about 3-4M$ CAP space. I think burying Ballard only saves them 900K...
they are still deep in the you know what...

I honestly don't know what to expect from the Leafs in free agency or trades and whatnot. Even compliance buyouts.
I wouldn't be surprised if we went out and signed Vinny and bought out Grabs (despite the numerous articles posted already saying he has talked to Grabs already blah blah blah) nor would I be surprised if we stick with our current top four centres. I'd prefer the upgrade, of course, but if free agents don't want to come here they don't want to come here.
I guess we'll see what happens over the rest of the week and beyond, as there might be some trades and whatnot as well shortly after some free agent signings.
I usually don't mind but I'm probably heading up to a friend's cottage this weekend, leaving around noon so I'm probably going to miss out on all the fun...but on the flip side I'll be boating, drinking, chillin around a fire, etc...so I can't really complain. |

lol...going through the options I see no other options honestly. Grabo would be a better option for the Avs I feel, and Stastny would be better for the Leafs. Grabo and Bozak are losing their spots on the roster imo. |

you've been away so I will give you this one lol
but give up on your stastny for grabo dream.. the way nonis was talking about grabo earlier this week it sounds as if he has already committed to have him on the team. - Dozzer
That would be a slap in Burkies face, I think mutual respect will come into play with Grabbo unless they find a trade partner. With that being said Grabbo sacrificed for us in the post season and deserves a chance to prove himself. |
