oh wow thats a lot of journeying around my friend.

I'm disapointed the leafs havn't used their financial might to their advantage trading for a player in need of a buyout. I.e, something like

Komisarek/Liles, our first (Gauthier) for Dipietro and Strome.

That would have made me sooo happy

This assumes that the managers or owners of other teams are desperate enough to get rid of their bad contracts, that they are willing to give up a quality asset to do it. The owners are rich guys, these teams are hobbies to them. They are more likely to bite the bullet on a buyout themselves rather than had over an asset to an opposing team.

i could definitely see this. There may be an advantage in not using a compliance buy out on a guy with only 1 year left.

Why would you do it before you need to? If we don't need the Cap space for another player then why waste a valuable asset right away?

Easier to chew on overspending for Clarkson vs Bozak. 5.5 for Clarkson for 5 years or 8 year at 4.85 for Bozak..?? Easy choice.

I think he's going to wait to the last minute to buy out Komi. I think he is trying to move him in a package first.
