“@mirtle: Oh boy, more awards voting. NHL names the end of year all-star teams and Ovechkin makes the first AND second team as both a RW and LW. Oy.”

Exhibit A that just because you are a sports writer, doesn't mean you know what the (frank) you are talking about.

What an embarrassment.

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 24s
The player left off the all-star teams due to Ovechkin being named twice (once at wrong position) was Taylor Hall.

Yeah Lindros is an option?

How bout Gordon or give big joe a shot. Gerbe would be majorly scraping the bottom of the barrel. Could get any marlie to do better.

Due to the amount of defencemen on the roster for the 2008–09 season for the Maple Leafs, Ian White was sat out for the first 11 games of the season before playing his first game in which he spent some time playing as a 3rd line forward. In spite of a lack of experience in the position, in eight games there he managed three goals, seven points, and a +5 plus/minus rating before returning to defence.

Thinking outside the box...sign Ian White for cheap to play forward.

Haven't seen him play much in the past 3 years but I always liked his effort and hockey sense. Wouldnt be a bad option for defensive depth depending on $$$

I'm sure they have and I hope it is Clarkson, exactly the type of player the Leafs need, battles in the corners and along the boards to keep the puck in or get it out, goes to the net and won't back down.

Every team needs to use free agency as a means to improve at some point in time.... most free agents are over paid...

Neither of those guys are getting that kind of coin.. But Bozak at 4 and Clarkson at 5 is fine.

what if the rumours of 7years at 6mill are true...

don't think that's worth it for that type of player

I'd do Bozak at 3.5 and Clarkson at 4.5.
