He's a fifth overall and has been in junior for 4 years. He must be getting close. The Islanders are about to buy out Dipietro, so this could be a low cost option. Maybe Reimer and Matt Finn, sounds about right. They're also welcome to Komi and or Liles, if they choose.

but Id be just as happy going with Kadri, Grabo as 1-2 than Bozak, Kadri.


To me, it seems pretty imminent that Kadri will be our #1. He will be better than bozak and it will probably be within a year or two. I dont think we should pigeon-hold Kadri at two, but if we sign Bozak, and make sure he knows he will be outplayed by Kadri for #1C duties, then it doesn't bother me all that much.

We aren't getting strome. The Islanders are quite happy with him and already moved the one they weren't happy with for a physical 3rd liner who can score goals.....I really like what the Islanders are doing, they're just missing a #1 goalie.

The elephant in the room is that Bozak helps us keep Phil.

The reason I'm not totally in favor of just showing Bozak the door is because I do like the dynamic of this young team and like to see teams held together as much as possible.

Not the point at all. I'm not saying he sucks or anything. For the right price, Id keep him.
I'm just saying we had a two goal lead in the playoffs without Bozak and still won.

So to say Bozak was the deciding factor in that game 7 is just insane.

No, but it's nice to be able to say to all of your players that you intend on sticking with them and building something special.

We expect players to have loyalty to the team, and I think the players ought to have some expectation that the team will be loyal to them, as well.

I know people are not liking this 8 year proposal, but I do understand the logic from Bozak. He's essentially saying, "Hey, if you want me to take a home town discount, I will, but I want you to commit to me long term."

Bozak is rumored to be asking for 8 years at less than 5 per year, probably expecting to be counter offered something closer to 4.

Would we do 8 years at 4 million per? If we expect him to leave money on the table, maybe we do owe it to him to give him a long deal? By year 7 or 8, 4 million will be pretty inconsequential.
