Yep so add Colborne to the deal and upgrade it to Grabovski, Colborne and Gardiner for a second in 14 and 3rd in 15. - honesthockey

But at what point do we concede that Kessel (or Lupul) just aren't going to do any better?
Kessel was on 90 point pace with Bozak... does he really become a 100 point/50 goal player with a better center?
Does Lupul crack triple digits with Stastny over Bozak? I think these projections become a little bizarre unless you assume that they're pretty near their ceilings. - Leeman4Gilmour
This.
Everyone seems so fixated at upgrading the top 6 of the Leafs, when in fact, they're just fine the way they are. It's adding grit to the bottom six, and shoring up the D that needs to happen to take this team to the next level. |

It's all speculative, but in my opinion, yes.
I think if you want to win a championship, you don't ever concede that your key players can't get any better. Shore up the role areas, find ways to maximize offensive output from your stars.
Most importantly for me, we already have one not so great contract in grabovski, may as well deal with it. Signing Tyler freaking bozak to ville leino money with any kind of term doesn't work for me with or without grabovski. |

That game 7 was probably a blessing in disguise as it showed the true colours of the Leafs's weakness's. It showed Nonis & all of Leaf Nation that this teams SERIOUSLY lacks clutch players who can deliver when everything is on the line. The guts & glory kinda guys is what the Leafs are sorely lacking. We got 1 now in Bolland. Hopefully soon for the right price, we'll also have Clarkson. These are the kinda guys u win with especially in the playoffs. - GCHonda
So far, I'd agree that the addition of Bolland is the most important thing we've done to address that meltdown.
It might be the most important thing we'll end up doing all off-season. Quite bluntly, if we had Bolland in game seven, we'd hang on to win 4-3 or something. |

I disagree, respectfully.
7th best NHL team offensively, 12th best defensively.
Chicago, 1st and 4th
Boston, 4th and 5th
If the team every wants to win a championship, they don't stop trying to make improvements anywhere. |

I'm actually okay with Bozak staying for 4 or less, and I actually think the arrival of Bolland is worse news for Grabovski than Bozak.
#3C is Bolland. #2C is clearly Kadri.
Grabovski isn't a #1C, and neither is Bozak. But at least Bozak has shown he fits up there, if nothing else. You don't really need a gifted playmaker for Kessel. You need a guy who is defensively aware and who can retrieve pucks.
Kessel makes his own space if you get him the puck and cover his back. - Leeman4Gilmour
i think the best thing for kessel is to get a scoring centre ..... kessels passing is under rated by a large amount if he had a c that could score his point totals would be even better ..... thnik about how meany good chance bozak missed on that kessel has set up in the last 2 years ..... and if the other team d-fence had to worry more about the guy kessel was passing to it would give him more space to shoot |

Coaching was the reason for the game 7 meltdown. No timeout called. And the thought was he would go with key people even though they were totally exhausted, vs rolling fresh players and letting the Bruins bag their key people with long shifts.
It was horrible to watch and even worse to remember. It could have all been saved with by playing like every team does with a 3 goal lead!
Hopefully Clarkson wants to play here with Bolland, like Bosh, James and Wade decided. |

Lucic-Krejci-Horton carried that entire series. In fact, they nearly carried that entire team the whole distance.
We had no answer for them whatsoever. Our best hope was to contain them somewhat and hope to outscore them. It's rare that you see one line utterly dominate a seven game series like that. Chicago figured out a way to cool them down and Bolland was a big part of that. |

Like he said what do you think Kessels ceiling is? Because man I think he's reached it and beyond already. |
