Hard to believe we actually have a shot, eh?

Don't down yourself, the leafs have a good chance to get him. We have the cap space, we have the need, we have a good team.

If Seguin is up for grabs then I think Nonis should make the move. This will sort out our #1C dilemma. However, the issue becomes: what do we pay to get him? Boston would want a prospect back and a pick. Is he worth giving up Rielly or Gardiner and a 1st pick? Can TML afford that?
- TML4Life85

If Boston really wants to give up on a 2nd overall pick on a reasonable deal my question would be why

Damn

This is actually getting tight.

List keeps shrinking.

Detroit, Dallas are off

Boston and Philly don't have space.

It is becoming a two-horse race.

If Vinny picks the great Anglo-Satan Leafs over his beloved Habs there'll be riots

Thats an overpayment, maybe something smaller included like another prospect(blacker, finn, damigo, ashton, etc) or current roster player like a gunner or kulemin

Because I'm the absolute bestest at back reading, I'm gonna assume you mean Vinny. I'm all for grabbing him on a 3-5 year deal.

we have a shot for the sole fact that we can guarantee him top line C playing with phil and JVR and for a guy in his position who wouldnt want that opportunity?

If were to land Vinny then it really should mean an immediate buyout of Grabovski.

It would make financial sense, and practical sense to have Kadri as the 2nd line centre. Continuing with a 5.5m 3rd line centre, especially when we already have Bolland, McClement and Colborne just doesn't make sense.

Plus Franson needs a big raise too, and we have roster spots on the wing to figure out. Frattin and Mac need to be replaced. Is this a prime chance for an AHLer to step in and make a push? Ashton & D'amigo come to mind

That's just my hypothetical take on it all

- AngryWhiteMale

Sounds exactly right, actually.
As much as I would love Lecav, I'm actually a bit worried if we were to get him. At what cost?

If he ends up North of 5.75M for 5 years, we would be (frank)ed.
If we get into a bidding war, that could very well be the price.
Where is the point to say "(frank), never mind. Here Montreal, he's all yours." And does Nonis know where it is?

That in itself will be worth whatever he gets paid. Leafs would get their well sought after 1C, Hab fans lose out on their great French hope.

Because they proved that they fleeced the Leafs in the Kessel deal

If it comes down to Toronto or Montreal, we need to win this one. It could mean the difference of making the playoffs or not.

yeah i dont really see the fit for the senz, they have spezza at #1 and turris at #2, unless they shift turris to the wing

I think he knows he isn't a real 1C anymore. And certainly not another 2 years into whatever deal he signs.

Senz make sense in my opinion. They will be real good next year if they can actually stay healthy and add a few pieces.

Close to home too.

Gotta think the Tax brackets in QC aren't appealing to anyone making more than 60k a year too.

I mean, the guy's only made 35m+ in his career, and just recieved an additional 20m to get the hell out of Tampa Bay.

He's got kids to feed

Yeah I wouldn't give Vinny more than 4 years.

3 at 16 sounds ideal

If we could make the playoffs with Bozak, we could do it again without Lecav. However, I agree. He alone could get us passed the first round.
But would you be willing to pay him 8M for 5 years?
That's my point.

Exactly. We were talking earlier about Letang and how hard it would be to feed himself, possibly a girlfriend, perhaps a child and even a dog on anything less than 6.5 milly a year.

I'd take Bozak over Turris anyday.

Spezza was injured and if he can't stay healthy they'll want other options.

Plus Ottawa has a boatload of cap space, along with an owner who's willing to spend money and make sure that Crappy Tire centre is full
