Do you get the feeling that Nonis has Snow on speed dial, desperately trying to get him to bite on Komi?

Komi to the Islanders makes too much sense for it to happen.

I think so. Allows for each pair to have an offensive guy and more of a defense guy. Haven't looked at what hand he shoot and how he fits in though

Shoots left but he will come cheaply regardless

I don't think buying out Komisarek makes any sense at this point with only 1 year left on his contract.. just bury him. Liles or Grabovski maybe...

I agree here. unless you NEED the capspace. just let the contract get rid of itself.

if grabo doesn't step it up this year use it on him next year.

edit: assuming bury him means in the minors, not his caphit/salary

The more I think about the Bolland trade, the more I don't like it. We just tied up 3.4 million on a 3rd liner right before free agency, greatly limiting our bidding for players services.

I agree. He should have been moved for a 7th rounder.

Liles and Grabo only had one bad season each... Liles's contract isn't a mammoth one, in any case, and Grabo will probably bounce back.

I am on the fence about this one.

He definitely gives us that true third line center, and allows grabo to return to an offensive role. Just not sure if it will work out that way. and we may have tied our hands on some other pick ups.

better options out there

I dont understand why we dont use grabo as a winger.... hes an offensivr type of centerman who can play wing and center versatile as I compare his style to a jeff Carter

The Isles are a long way from the cap floor, they have to pay someone.

Does Jeff Carter get rag dolled and spends half the game on his ass? The contract is an albatross and I doubt he does anything worthwhile next year either.

Bolland at 3.4 is money in the bank! We were just paying MacArthur 3.25

We've definitely tied our hands for some other pick ups. We have 15 million to play with, but we still have to sign all our RFA, including the newly acquired Bernier. Really don't see us doing much in free agency after this trade, and realistically, our center position may be worse off then last year. I would have preferred sticking with Kadri, Colborne,McClement as our 2, 3, 4. Hopefully trying to sign a better option for the #1 spot like Lecavalier.

When was the last time you have seen Jeff Carter play hockey, is my question. They do not have similar styles at all.

But they would prefer to pay someone who will actually play.

Komi cleared waivers last year.

I'm sorry, but he is done. He can't play anymore.

Think of John Cleese in a pet shop: Komi = parrot.

Bolland is also on the last year of his contract. I think Nonis gave Carlyle a guy that should work well in his system for the 3rd line, may be able to fill a void on the second line as the potential upside.
