Gags can't even hold Read's jock strap anymore. Read was a better player on the international stage than Simmonds. Played more minutes, more key situations, and had more points. Guy is a stud, please STOP throwing him into ever deal like he is a sweetener.

Yes, Vinny can play PK and PP if needed.

At this point I'd keep Read and only move him at the deadline if the situation calls for it. Signing Streit and Lecav shows they want to win now. Read helps that goal.

Wow. I've always liked lecavalier but can't believe he signed here. Long contract but the cap hit is ok if he can score 70 Pts. He may be able to take some offensive pressure off G.

He's a UFA at the end of next offseason so unless we work out an extension we'll get very little for him at the deadline. Trading him this offseason means his new team gets an entire year to deal with an extension or new contract.

If he stays healthy he could definitely score 70

I don't mind this addition. Kind of shocked he picked us to be honest.

There will a lot of AARP mailings to the WFC this year.

What are you talking about?? Timonen, Streit, Lecavalier. Who else? Schenn's, Coburn, G, Simmonds, Couts, Jake, Gustafsson, Grossmann, and the list goes on are all young players. If anything they didnt have enough seniority. Stop complaining for the sake of complaining. The old argument has no basis.

Except in the playoffs, no? That ONE goal and boatload of excuses by Sam Rosen and company was beautiful.

I think 20 and 30 is probably more realistic. Couple that with being good on the dot and a veteran presence in the locker room and we will have a pretty good deal.

And who knows, if his wingers produce maybe we get 20 and 40.

5.7M is after accounting for Pronger going on LTIR and the bonus cushions for Schenn, Couturier and Laughton.

Maybe he can switch to Luongo's Twitter avatar until the Flyers have their second goalie.

" I don't like the length of the contract even a little bit, although I know that Lecavalier wanted a contract of that length wherever he signed. Although he is hardly ancient at 33, he is not the player he was a few years ago. This contract has the potential to become an albtross around the Flyers necks in the next two or three years if Lecavalier does not meet expectations"

I thought the same, but when you consider what Clarkson, or Clowe may get, or Horton with his concussion issues, it may not be too bad, actually, I think Hartnell's contract may wind up hurting us more.

a young team needs a few older veterans, the fact that Vinny was a Captain & has a ring can also help, I don't see Coburn leaving unless there's a plan to get another top 4 D man, Grossman & Mez cannot be counted on with their injuries.
