Myers + (you would have to tell me what you would want as the plus) for Couturier and Meszaros?

The money is virtually a wash. You get to solve both your problem with Meszaros and having too many centers in one deal while immediately improving your D.

I know Myers had an off year last year, but in your system, he would thrive. The guy is a tremendous skater and will play mean when the money is on the line like he did against you in the series two years ago.

I sense an obscene 7 yr $56M offer sheet coming Pietro's way this week.

Off for the night, but its a weird feeling being a fan for me these days.

The biggest needs on this team are the D, and goaltending. Too many question marks on both.

As of now Holmgren got out from two hand-cuff contracts and may have just signed a player to another one, with no more buy-outs left.

The summer is long and I expect more moves. To be honest, I hope there are, because to me its kind of laughable if all they do is pretty much improve the offense.

The D is still a pretty big concern, and Mason needs a back-up if he is indeed a starter.

Some of you people are ridiculous; vinny for 4.5 is a good deal, maybe you can get nash with his 1 goal/ 3points in 12 games or Richards at press box for another 8 years!!!!!!

Vinny was the best player last year for the bolts until salo used his foot for target practice; also led the team in hits at that point for those idiots saying he is soft.

Vinny has been the most misused player the last couple of years playing with some beer league wingers; you give him some talented wingers and he'll be just fine.

I hate philly more than life itself but as of today they are my favorite team and will be purchasing my Vinnie flyer jersey ASAP.

I have my doubts that, that D could hold up in the playoffs or even an 82 game season.

Ohhh well...

Only one way to find out, will be a fun season.

I agree. That's why I don't care who they trade from the defense. They will get back a decent return.

The concern is that after 4 serious injuries in the space of roughly a year, will he be the same player he was and will he be able to stay healthy. It's also important to remember that he played his best when on the 3rd pairing and often struggled when moved up and forced to take on harder defensive assignments. With Streit, Timonen and Gustafsson the Flyers have enough offense on the back end, I think Coburn is a better and more durable defender than Mez.
- BiggE

I think when Streit is paired with a solid shutdown dman (Coburn) and he can be left more to play his style, he will be fine. He never had that opportunity in NY.

Well, considering they're not likely done making moves, I'd wait to see what the defense looks like when the puck drops.

If down the road we had Myers, Lauridsen, and Morin on our D at the same time, we would be like, the tallest defense in hockey . I'm not exactly opposed to this trade. Would you do BSchenn and Mezaros for Myers?

The Cap hit is really reasonable. The term is a concern.
- MJL

I actually really like it. I was half tongue in cheek when I said 5 for 22.5 Bc I didn't think it would be enough. The total cap will be 80 or above near the end of this deal.
It's not choking our cap. We don't hade to trade anyone right now and we are under the cap with Prongers LTIR

Way to go holmer!!

Soooo what's the plan? Move which center in trade or which center moves to the wing? Any word out of lavy or homer?

They do have to move someone realistically. And they should avoid putting Pronger on LTIR if at all possible.

And using LTIR, means you are over the Cap, not under it.

All speculation, but I think Schenn moves to Wing.

Personally, I would much rather go with Couturier over Schenn, but that is why you countered with that deal because I think you agree

Would it take more then Myers to get Couturier and Mezaros?

Funny you said that about going for the tallest D in hockey as I think Buffalo is trying for that right now with Myers, drafting Ristolainen & Zadarov, and having McNabb at 6'4 probably ready for the NHL next season.
