STANLEY CUP!!!!

Most likely not, but a return to the playoffs would be likely if they stay relatively healthy.

Shhhh! You're ruining the narrative! Shea Weber didn't actually sign the contract with Philadelphia! That was just made up! Pure fiction! Nobody wants to come to Philly! Nobody!
- AllInForFlyers

I had one guy seriously try to argue with me that Shea Weber absolutely didn't want to come to Philadelphia. I was just like, wut?

Then why would EDM do that deal?

I respect Bill's opinion but I think 5 years is fine since it's not an over 35 contract. Vinny could walk away after 3 or 4 years and there would be no cap penalties.

Nashville people love to say that -- he really never wanted to come, he was only using Philadelphia.

Yeah, OK, whatever. That dude was driving over the Walt Whitman in a U-Haul when he heard David Poile matched.

You don't need offense from Smid.

There isn't a big difference between the two offensively.

Shea Weber was practically moving to South Jersey when Poile matched that contract. No rational observer thought they'd match that offer sheet.

Probably almost drove off the road when he heard the Preds matched, I doubt he thought there was any chance he was staying in Nashville.

The Predators Fan Shop thought Weber was gone. Authentic Weber jerseys were available for something like $65 or $67 the day Nashville matched.

Still not in love with this signing. Like Vinny. Don't love his cap hit and don't love the term.

I think this probably means the end of Brayden Coburn as a Flyer, unless the only thing they get back for Cobie is comparable contracts. Then, I think Mez goes for pennies on the dollar to a team needing to get to the cap floor (if such a team exists).

Don't believe the hype folks, it's very doubtful that Coburn is going anywhere.

Grossmann is coming off concussion issues, Timonen will be 39 by the end of the season and Streit is not exactly a shutdown guy. Coburn will be counted on for 20+ minutes per night and will go every other shift late in games where the Flyers are leading. He's not going anywhere.

Mezaros, on the other hand, may want to start packing.

Some of you people are ridiculous; vinny for 4.5 is a good deal, maybe you can get nash with his 1 goal/ 3points in 12 games or Richards at press box for another 8 years!!!!!!

Vinny was the best player last year for the bolts until salo used his foot for target practice; also led the team in hits at that point for those idiots saying he is soft.

Vinny has been the most misused player the last couple of years playing with some beer league wingers; you give him some talented wingers and he'll be just fine.

I hate philly more than life itself but as of today they are my favorite team and will be purchasing my Vinnie flyer jersey ASAP.

yea 1 cup is worth it all.

i still don't agree with the carter/richards trade. you guys made the SCF with them and haven't done poop since while they won the cup. idk...holmgren makes a lot of moves but rarely do they result in good things for the club.

- rangerdanger94

Carter had almost nothing to do with that 2010 Cup run. Pronger getting hurt and Bryz being terrible are the reason the Flyers have had trouble since then.

I might add that without Carter and Richards they did beat the Penguins in a playoff series, which is something they failed to do twice.

Yes, as long as the other team is aware of the injury status and agrees.
