I'm warming up to this move. He's still a very good player. 4.5 is a very fair cap hit. A little nervous about what will happen Friday.
- PLindbergh31

I'm warmed up to the idea of Vinny on the ice for us, and the cap hit really isn't bad at all. Still not keen on the term for an old head though.

Woo. I like it, good signing.

We have assets and can do a lot.....or do nothing, either way I like this roster.

Sign Thomas on the cheap and hopefully Gagne and we're set!

5 years 22.5 million. Like I said I'm ok with this! 4.5 is no problem !
- Just5

The 5 years and NMC kinda are though.

Well your issue should be with the Streit deal then.

As long as it doesn't cost a young player as a reaction to the deal. I'm okay with that. I do think there is a good chance that he becomes a diminishing player in the final years of the deal.

Yes. The backend of the deal might be tough to swallow. I guess it's the price of doing business.

I still feel either Schenn or Couterier is traded for a Dman

Kind of the same feeling there. He brings elements or blueline sorely lacked, so I could line with the cap hit. The term really concerns me.

Well, it's not like they're twelve year contacts.

What number will he be wearing?

There's potentially a ton of frenchies on this team right now... Giroux, Vinny, Coots (if not traded), Gagne (if resigned), Talbot, Gervais (hopefully nowhere near the lineup next year).

Would be interesting to a 3rd line of Gags-Talbot-Read(Simmonds)

You are now over the cap, have 1 goalie (do you really like Steve Mason?) and you have a shaky defense.....

I'd rather bring Pete Peeters out of retirement (again) than sign Tim Thomas.

That first part is my concern. The declining play down the line part is also a factor.

So you didn't like either signing, and weren't particularly high on the draft... I'm converting you!

Like the cap hit and feel he will definitely help the team next season. Friday should be interesting. I also think it is hilarious that in a situation like this we can completely disregard that free agency does not open up until Friday at noon Am I missing something?
