The Flyers really aren't already in negative Cap.
- MJL

Just another Rags troll who doesn't quite understand that they didn't buy out Brad Richards this year, Stepan and McDonough are RFAs this year, and Ryan Callahan, Brassard, Kreider, Girardi, Del Zotto and Moore are up after this season.

Have fun with that!

They're also guaranteed to immediately eat into LTIR, which probably means more bonus overages next year, difficulty with injury call-ups, and no bankable cap space for deadline additions... same story every year.

All possibilities. But not really. Just need to add a Goalie to this lineup

not really because if you trade coburn for a pick to clear cap space and then trade couterier, you lose 2 players and gain 1 for the same hit against the cap. you still need to get another player to replace the other guy so you end up with even less capspace.

according to capgeek you are.

Pronger makes 4.91M
we can spend 10% over the cap so 6.45M

Leed said it best...Any other team signs Vinny its a great move, Flyers do it and its dumb, "he doesnt fit" blah blah. Yes there will be some moves, one can hope not too much youth goes away. The reality is this team has what 6 or 7 centers now? If they can dangle one and get a really good young D-man than we are golden.
- flyerfan28

it's a "dumb" move for the flyers because of your cap situation to be honest. you got mad old dudes like streit and lecavelier signed long term with NMC for 4-5 mil when all your young studs are gonna be due for raises in the near future.

idk...we'll see.

idk man...holmgren should've learned by now that patience is a virtue. every time he makes a move, it backfires.

i mean...giroux is due for a crosby/malkin-esque contract next season.

- rangerdanger94

The Flyers and the word patience dont go together.

Well I'll explain Capgeek to you. Capgeek does not keep an actual off season Cap. They make certain assumptions of who is going to be in the lineup come next Season. A lot changes in the Summer. I posted a Cap geek lineup that other then needing a backup Goalie, has the Flyers with over 4M in Cap space. I speculated that Meszaros is traded. Flyers still have means to have plenty of Cap flexibility.

Honestly, if they win a cup this year..IF.. they did, it wouldn't matter what happend the next half a decade. People will still be drunk in 2018 from it.

What the heck is everyone so concerned about. They now have more options and a great #2 C. No other moves need to be done but dumping Mez. Flyers just signed the top 2 UFAs of the summer and everyone has their panties in a bunch. No wonder no one likes Flyers fans.

Yes, and based on that, Pronger does not need to go on LTIR. The Flyers can get over 8M of available Cap space by placing Pronger on LTIR. But they should avoid that if they can.

Yeah, and you have at least six players who are going to command $5 million or more, and a goalie who is going to command $7-plus.

Again, good luck with that.

Cant have a team full of youngsters we have Timmo, Streit and Vinny and the rest are all pretty young. Couts and Schenn are still developing and wont get much of a raise at all. We will see how things turn out like you said but the Flyers are a better team today than they were yesterday and thats the goal.

then you obviously trade meszaros and coburn

LTIR is not the positive that so many make it out to be. There are some bad things that can happen from using LTIR.
