It's definitely not the player I'm frustrated with, but this really feels like they signed him because they could, and I feel like now they'll make a trade just because they can. Maybe I'll be proven wrong.
- BulliesPhan87

I don't think you will be. No question at least one trade is coming.

If someone it's leaving becuz of the cap, i hope it's read and mezzy and not any of Coots, Coby or Schenn.

This move allows Homer to at least make a call to Nashville about Jones.

You know Nashville wasn't thrilled the top 3 forwards were off the board when they picked. I'm sure Weber wasn't either.

- hereticpride

Exactly -- no way is Shea Weber sitting there saying another defenseman is helping him out.

It's clear this is a plan. Get better now. Screw the future!

It's July 2nd. Have to see what the final product is. How about some optimism for a change?

Why trade Read ?

Sign Gagne and there's your lineup!

With Homer saying he'd like to bring Gagne back, does this all but insure Read is being traded?

Definitely not going to be back now... and it looks like a bargain goalie tandem is in the cards as well.

Well I said when they bought out Briere and Bryzgalov, that they didn't do it to let the money collect interest in a savings account, so to speak. They did it to make moves with it.

idk man...holmgren should've learned by now that patience is a virtue. every time he makes a move, it backfires.

i mean...giroux is due for a crosby/malkin-esque contract next season.

I am showing optimism. I don't think it's a bad move. I like Lecavalier. He's a very good player. Brings size, and faceoff ability. Winning player.

The thing we may not like is the fallout from this acquisition.

I like how we've added 2 former captains this summer
Now with G, Kimmo, Streit, and Vinny, we have 3 former captains and 1 current. Great leadership for the kids. This acquisition is Jake approved

Exactly. And let's be honest: The speed thing is overblown -- hell, Michal Handzus was the second-line center for the Cup champion as of one week ago.

yup cuz trading a kid that makes $1.3M for a Dman that makes over $5M when you're already in negative cap totally makes sense.

I'd trade Coots + for Hamilton, Brodin, or a blue-chip young defenseman like that, but I'd rather not give him for 26 and 27 year olds.
