Oilers didnt qualify Peckham, Plante, or Tuebert on d, Cornet up front. That’s a lot of jam gone from the back end at AHL level.

Plante and Teubert are both former top 15 picks.

that is an absolute steal for you guys. anything under 8 for the flyers cant be viewed as anything other than a big time win for the organization

The 4th Period reports that Giroux and Flyers could have an extension done by the end of the week, expected cap hit to be a bit over $7mm per
- Jsaquella

I would be ecstatic if it's not more than 7.5 mill, i have my doubts about that though. I'll wait until it's actually official.

Lot of young talent getting cut loose this summer... Flyers should be snatching up all the d-prospects left and right.

if we are using briere as a barometer, then yes i will concede that crosby is right around in that category. both crosby and briere do their fair share of penalties. and yeah, im sure once in a while crosby may get away with a hook or something of that nature. but i wouldnt put crosby or briere in the category in which i am referring to, which is guys like kaleta and the old matt cooke. (and yes i realize most of you will scoff at that distinction for cooke, but it is true)

but crosby and briere, they may be "dirty" in the sense that they commit infractions, but they are not of the elbowing, headhunting, charging variety

- stayinthefnnet

No the are just in the category of slashing and spearing and tripping. Breaking peoples wrists, bruising ankles....

And the difference is Briere got called for the majority of the crap he did. I hated it, and people always defended him saying "he is small, that is how he fights back." BS. Same with Crosby.

I disagree completely that Rinaldo goes out every shift with the intent to hurt someone. He goes out every shift with the intent to play a physical game, get in on the forecheck, and help the team win in any way he can. But he is not trying to injure other players. That's ridiculous.
- MJL

lol im not sure man his post game interviews are pretty demonic

i think he wants his hits to hurt is what he meant

Tuebert was picked by Lombardi and Hextall, the guy that some people around these parts have a hard on for to replace Holmgren.

Blum's going to be on waivers, too... picked by a similar boner-inducer.

He certainly wants to hit hard, to make players wary of him out there, to cough up the puck and think about it. That's his job and his forte. But to try and injure players. I don't think so.

I was right about Horvat. Would have been a very bad pick for the Flyers.

If I remember correctly you said the Flyers should pick Horvat, and someone else... I forget who... And I replied that they were the worst picks I heard someone say the Flyers should get...

Not because he wasn't a good player, but because he is another 2-way center, just like we already have too much of on this team....

So good day sir. I SAID GOOD DAY!

no i dont buy the thats how he fights back crap either. guys like crosby, and briere, and giroux, should never be instigators physically. however, they are subjected to a ton of punishment by guys because that is really the only effective defense against them. the NHL actually does the worst out of all of the leagues in protecting its stars. if you dont want guys like crosby and giroux slashing back, then call it with greater frequency when it occurs against them,

and of course crosby doesnt like the flyers. just as giroux doesnt with the pens. nor should they. like i said, they are both so alike. it is pretty comical when either tries to sound worked up or menacing. they are both fairly small, and have pipsqueak voices.

He was taken in the top 15 in the draft? It would be interesting to read all the pre draft hype on him.

You couldn't possibly be right. He hasn't played a single second in the NHL. Players are not locked into the position they play in Juniors. Players who are Centers in Juniors, frequently become Wingers. Simon Gagne was a Center in Juniors. Not to mention the turnover in the NHL.

Flyers need to be all over these young guys being let go. Especially Blum. He can still be a 2nd pairing guy i think.
