What deal? Im on the fence either way myself though would be nice to have him. Everything I have seen is he hasnt decided on anyone yet.

I think this is exactly the situation Bill described earlier in the silly season about an agent leaking false info to bump up an asking price. I think the Flyers and Stars are the 2 teams, and the agent is raising the price. Though I think its important to remember that Poile said he spoke to Vinny and he said he wants East coast.

We might be the team... Still.

If Laughton is their best option for that role, then great. I'm all for it.

I'm just not of the opinion that the team NEEDS to go in that direction.

What's best for the player is also part of the puzzle.

I'm sorry, what classifies Scott Laughton as ready? MJL's word?

I will look no further the Claude Giroux. He played to emergency call up games. The following season didn't look good in camp. In fact he was "a lock" and Steve Downie played light years better. McGinn or Cousins could come in and simply be better.

Brayden Schenn also had his issues making the Kings line up a few times. I wouldn't exactly say his first camp here went smoothly. You could say it was a financial thing no more a play issue during preseason games but Couturier surprisingly found a home here over Schenn.

Couturier might be the only player who has come right out of camp in recent years but he could be lightning in a bottle himself.

Expect an interesting MJL reply in about 5-6 pages.

Lebrun doesnt even have the Flyers on the list for Vinny. How can two people who say they are insiders have such differing opinions

Might be a lot of this going on Friday.

Well, he told David Poile that. It may just be that he wanted to be on the East Coast if the alternative was Nashville. Given that choice, I'd say the same thing.

Gotcha, saw Lebrun has Boston on the list too that makes zero sense they dont have much money to spend. I would like the Flyers to nab him, good size and allows one of the centers to be moved for puck mover. But not getting hopes up, said it earlier its been a while since someone picked the Flyers over other teams.

Nashville is going to be a good team. They were a good team 2 years ago, and lost Suter. They just got Jones. I would not mind playing in Nashville at this point.

Maybe he didn't want to hurt Poiles feelings and say "I don't want to be in Nashville"

Personally, the issue for me wouldn't be playing in Nashville so much as living in Nashville. The pace of living there seems (from afar, at least) to not match my preference.

Maybe that's a factor for Vinny, too. I dunno.

People are acting like its only 1 thing that would make the decision on whether or not Laughton is brought up. Everything has to be considered. Where will he develop best? Will it be better to have him play 4th line and burn a elc year, or play top minutes in junior and bring him up with more playing time in AHL or NHL? Do they want to take a 1.3 million cap hit on the 4th line?

In my opinion Laughton might just make the team, but I have a feeling it will be as a 3rd line center. With either Schenn moving to wing, or Couturier being traded, or both. I think if the only position available to him would be the 4th line, I think he goes back to juniors 1 more year.

It would be a completely different story if he was eligable for AHL this year, sure they keep him. He can move up and down as need and based on his play. But you dont have that option here. Couturier was so good they kept him on a 9 game trial, and Schenn was hurt, so couts was playing 3rd line most of the time for the first half that season. Its no exactly the same comaprison.

- youarewrong

A trade is always possible. But I think the most likely scenario, is Laughton makes the team to play on the 4th line. I think if one of the young Centers is traded, they'll bring in another Center.

Early or not, I would prefer to be in the 80%, wouldn't you?
- PLindbergh31

That's a major oversimplification. Teams have turnover and need to fill key roster positions, it's just reality. I'm not going to crucify the Flyers for not having their starter nailed down in the period between buying out Bryzgalov and the start of free agency.

If he does actually want to be on the east coast, and it's come down to Dallas and Philly, and he actually wants to win something, you'd think Philly would be his choice.

I visited there for a week. It's not really slow, it's actually pretty hoopin, especially downtown at night. But the actual "city" area is very small. Only maybe 5-6 blocks in both directions, then outskirts, then you're back to either highways or rural areas.

So if Laughton were to score in his first game of the season, does that mean you should keep him up?

Laughton playing in a physical defensive setting, with Rinaldo and McGrinn, will not at all set him back.

Typo or not I think we have a WINNER! All I could think of was the McDonald's clown and it went downhill from there.

Not sure anyone is crucifying the Flyers. I think the entire Bryzgalov fiasco has left a little yolk on the brows, and omelettes on the suites of Flyers brass.
