Like I said, Max Talbot put up similar numbers and still saw his junior career through and still saw some polishing in the AHL. Such players as Brayden Schenn and Claude Giroux deemed themselves ready early and were not. They needed a little extra time, even at the junior and AHL level.

Max Talbot also played in the QMJHL. No a knock, but it's a traditionally offense-oriented league.

he was a notorious Flyer killer

speaking of, did Elias re sign yet?

I can't wait for him and Brodeur to retire.

- Marc D

I don't think so. Someone (Craig Button?) on NHL Network said yesterday they were focused on Zubrus and Clarkson first because they figure Elias won't likely walk.

The Dude's porn and Amish radio hour?

I had come up with a name when we discussed this on Twitter (as much as one can "discuss" something on Twitter). I forget it now, though... Maybe Jsaq remembers?

I think Laughton is ready for the NHL, I just think because he is too young for the AHL, and the log-jam at center, unless he is 3rd line center or moved to a top 9 wing position then they will put him back in juniors so his 1 million does count agaisnt the cap, and the time on his contract doesnt start yet.

Not saying that is what I want, just saying if nothing changes with the current centers I see him in the juniors 1 more year.

Again, would you have sent Mike Richards back to juniors in 2005/2006?

Per three sources the Lecavalier sweeps looks to be down to Dallas and Philly. That is for now of course. Teams can jump in or out still and we could hear something as early as today or tomorrow...

I lean towards your opinion on Laughton, with respect to his 4th year of junior.

It's going to come down to whether or not Laviolette and company think the kid can contribute, regularly, over the course of an 82 game schedule.

I also think comparisons I've seen in these discussions to either Richards or Couturier are misguided. He's neither one of those guys from what I've read and he certainly doesn't have the junior hockey pedigree that either one of those players had.

If the kid can take pressure off of Giroux on draws and such, great. I'm all for keeping him around.

If Thomas is training and still in shape, he could be a steal on a one year deal.

This guy won the mvp of the playoffs not that long ago.

I like Halak also but he will cost you in a trade. Emery and Thomas won't.

Mike Richards was a different player than Laughton is.

Laughton hasn't scored nearly at the rate that Richards did in Junior hockey.

I just dont think the Flyers will start the time ticking on his contract if they are just going to use him as a 4th liner.
- youarewrong

They've done that repeatedly. The players development takes priority over the contract issue. Which really isn't an issue.
