Hahahah.. Wasn't that bad. The tweet was friend in Isles organization says talks have been had with ANA.
- brodydog29

Lol I know, that was just a good excuse to share that.

I don't doubt they have inquired about Hiller, I just don't think that ANA is really going to have their hand forced to move him. If they get the right offer I'm sure they would, but they don't have their backs up against the wall.

Horton was asking 6 years $6M per. I just have a hard time believing the Islanders' front office has the balls to pay Nathan Horton, he of 2 full(ish) seasons out of the last 5, a higher average salary than John Tavares.
- eichiefs9

Not saying Horton deserves that money because he certainly doesn't...but the one and only one bad thing about JT's contract is that you cant justify paying someone more than JT. Since he is most likely the absolute best value in the NHL at his current deal, that could handcuff the Isles with an opportunity to land another elite player.

Why the tears? You wouldn't move Bails for Hiller?

I've been saying that for awhile. It's the best price to production ratio in the league, but how can you go out and sign someone for more money than him when they're half the player? It looks awful.

I think Bailey is a great player and is going to get better. I know I'm in the minority. Hopefully there is another alternitive

Is Bailey a solid 2nd line guy? I'm honestly asking, I barely ever get to see Isles games.

I imagine that's who Bob Murray is asking for. Unless you have another young 2C I'm forgetting about.

I think he has a ton of potential too, and I don't want to give him away. But Hiller is a damn fine goaltender and if Bailey is the asking price I'm more than OK with it.

We have to do what we have to do. I'm not going to lose my mind if it happens. We need a goaltender to keep this thing going. I'd rather not resign Nabby and I'd rather have someone of Hiller's caliber than Bryz.

He's streaky. You'll see him play out of his mind for a stretch and then you won't notice him for a stretch. He's been better on the wing, so if you want a 2C you probably don't necessarily want him. Although he's perfectly capable of playing the position, just has been better at LW.

Second line center is kind of a position under turmoil for the Isles. Have some young prospects that are just about ready to compete for it, but nobody super solid to call our definite second center yet.

Per Staple / Newsday:

The Rick DiPietro era is over for the Islanders. They will place the former No. 1 overall pick and franchise goaltender on waivers Tuesday for the purpose of buying out the remainder of his contract, Newsday has learned.
DiPietro, 31, will receive a compliance buyout, meaning that the $1.5 million the Islanders owe him over the next 16 years will not count against the team's salary cap..

Like I said....didn't know who was going to be our goalie, but I knew it wasn't going to be him. Buh-bye.....

#Islanders expected to buy out Rick DiPietro. He's made $4,373.75 per save in his career.

If people spent their time correcting the nonsensical a$$holism that is Garth's blogs we would all be unemployed and devoting 100% of our time to that crusade.
