Nino will do just fine playing with parise. Probably a little better than pandalfo and reasoner? - Cptmjl
I believe he will get a shot at 2nd line W
but probably start the season as 3rd line W
I think he will start the year on Minn not AHL |

No doubt, he still has potential to be a good player but if he is better than -15 or -20 then ill be surprised. He's lost without the puck. Maybe he worked on that in Bridgeport. It stinks because he fits in with what the isles need on that first line but his agent bullied him out of town. |

When he starts investing in this team to win he'll get some respect from the fan base. It's common sense. nobody is a fan of him on here we are a fan of the team he bought. - Cptmjl
I know that no one is a fan of him, which is fine. But obviously this shows he's willing to invest in the team when he has to A) pay the bum anyway for not playing and B) replace his cap money since it's not going towards it. It's at least a step in a different direction as opposed to the usual. |

I tweeted Gallof after the Islanders announced that they are buying out DiPietro...should they go after Hiller...
B.D. Gallof @BDGallof @kear20
i'd hope both. they need wing unless truly a player for Briere. If Ducks won't move Ryan, then thats where Isles forced then |

Is Bailey a solid 2nd line guy? I'm honestly asking, I barely ever get to see Isles games.
I imagine that's who Bob Murray is asking for. Unless you have another young 2C I'm forgetting about. - gtrman09

I just want to say that today is probably the best day ever to be an Islander fan. We finally get rid of the albatross named DP. I am speechless and the tears are flowing with happiness. Good Riddance!!!!!! For this one act alone I am now a true blue Wang and Snow fan and will NEVER EVER criticize them for any moves they make.

Would anyone know what exactly is the cap floor amount?
is it $44M or $48M
if the max is $64M.....
Cause I think its closer to the $48M, and if so, Isles have to spend a lot more then what we are assuming.... |

Thomas is a 39 year old, most likely out of shape distraction. I would hope Garth is smart enough to avoid. Let him go to Philly, which is already a side show missing a clown since Bryz was bough out.
I would go after Khudobin. The B's aren't going to keep him and he both solid and wants to prove he is an NHL starter. You could probably get him short term/short money. |

Nino's not really the player you remember from two seasons ago on the Isles...the gun shy, clueless, stringy player vacating the puck along boards at the slightest sign of trouble and ambling around the ice with a horribly awkward stride. At least he wasn't like that as the AHL season progressed and especially in the Worlds. Still needs to improve in some areas...balance in particular. But he's a better skater, a better checker, very good around the net, and willing to shoot from anywhere. And he's a bit better defensively. We're not talking Mike Peca here, obviously, but I'd say we're not talking Matt Moulson either.
I never thought he was a player that could carry a line or a team, but I do think he'll be a good weapon for a crafty center to take advantage of. I guess we'll see. |

Iv been saying for weeks to people i truly think Franzy is tradded this year. I love the guy but I think we can get a much better upgrade at center. I dont think strome or nelson should be given the sencond line spot yet and honestly think strome will move to the wing. I would trade franz for wiess and a 3rd or 4th rd pick. - oopsb13

I'm starting to think Wang is gaining confidence via his newfound support network. We're still going to be fiscally responsible and even stubborn at times but I would no longer completely rule out a player like Horton. I honestly think he can hit 35-40 goals with JT, and if Snow thinks so to, I wouldn't be shocked if they backed the truck up for him.
$$keaner17 $$ - keaner17
we will never know, at least in the near future, but lets remember that brooklyn has taken over the business side of the team. i wouldnt be shocked to hear that wang was pushed in the right direction to buyout DP...either way, great job by wang. best of luck to dp. and LetsGoIsles! |

Jaroslav Halak makes the most sense to me if you want a good goalie without giving up a ton. He doesn't get along with Hitchcock and when he was the starter two years ago he played out of his mind. Probably get him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I really find it hard to see the isles pulling off a major deal involving Anaheim or buffalo. Ryan miller has just one year left on his deal. Sorta risky to give up a ton and potentially watch him walk next season. - Isles316
i agree with this...our major trading chip was nino; hes obviously gone. unless guys on the roster are in play IE neilson, KO, moulson than im down for a "big" trade, but i dont really wanna move strome for a goalie that may or may not want to play here... if all we need to give up for halak is a 2nd or 3rd, lock it up!!!! |

Well I've had this discussion with someone else. Niño was god flipping awful especially in his own zone that he didn't deserve any ice time let alone 4th line. He never should of been here all season.
The fact the kings and Canucks didn't want him and the kings took a 3rd liner instead tells you all you need to know about his value. He's putrid in his own zone and lazy defensively. Lets see how that works for Minnesota - Isles316
I don't think it's quite that simple. Neither the Kings or Canucks were looking to add payroll which Nino would have done. The kid hasn't exactly committed any major crimes here other than becoming upset with a what seemed to be a communication breakdown. Unfortunately for him, the Isles are a team that will accept no negative comments sent to the media (Ie. Rolo, Wis, Witt, etc).
I'm still not sure about the trade overall, and while I think we'll all like Clutterbuck, I'm concerned in just how much of a role he'll be given or at least I was until last night. Now I think all signs point towards the Isles making a couple of 'purchases' later this week.

I have little doubt that niño is going to be a good NHL player but he still has some flaws and the rest of the league must not be sold on him because his value was lower than we all thought. Be interesting how he does in Minnesota |

$44. Isles are just over $32 right now and still have to sign bailey, hamonic, Cluttebuck and a goalie or two at the very least |
