I didnt say Iggy wasnt a better player... The argument is over whether we should sign clarkson or not... you brought up youd rather sign iggy... and along with multiple other points about why iggy wouldnt work here the last point was he wont sign here... - DarcyTucker16
Are you trying to say iggy wouldn't sign here ? Cuz I think he'd be an amazing 2nd line rw. |
|
|
|
No to Clarkson. His body won't hold up over the length of his next contract. He simply will not be the player in two years that he was two years ago... |

We are a long way away from your estimation... it is a team game I agree.. but with a team stacked to win.. they lost horribly.. that rests with all the players... including Iggy, who has never won.. at least some of the others won.. - DoctorNHL
Hes never won?
back to back mem cup championships
lead the tournament in scoring on the way to a world juniors gold
2 olympic gold medals (one he assists on the gold winning goal in overtime)
but isnt a winner cuz the penguins have no defence and had subpar goaltending |

Not the argument, simply telling you, Iginla is a better player. A better option for our 2nd line. Clarkson is overrated, and will be overpaid, greatly. - ThePresident
If he won't come here, why is this debate going on?

Completely forgot i had an account on here. So ummm yeah, Hi! And if we do sign Clarkson to 5.5 per , its only a tight fit for a year till cap goes back up. Maybe 2yr 5m Per and go from there. Kuli - Bolland - Clarkson would be a pain to play against . |

Have fun with that - JIMI-JAMES
I take your non-response... and head shake as a non-answer... winning is for a privileged few.. we are still trying to get there. For the Leafs to win... it will take a far superior team to anyone in the league.. Bettman will probably die in the process from the Leaf success.
Ratings will be down in the US... like any of us care.

Nah, and definitely not at 6m per |

I liked what Bolland brought to the Hawks but he is a third line center. He thrives in the shutdown/pest roll and can contribute offence from the defense. He was tried on the second line numerous times being surrounded with great talent (kane/sharp/hossa) and he buckled. There are numerous reasons the Hawks let a centerman go when they are already short at center. He sucks at the faceoff dot, usually coming in around 40-45 percent. He has a history of concussion and back problems and he usualy only shows up to play in the playoffs. |

yes im saying he wont sign here... the whole reason phaneuf was traded was because him and iggy clashed, secondly the reason he left calgary is to chase a cup not join a different rebuild, thirdly it doesnt make sense from a leafs stand point because by the time were ready to compete iggy will have retired leaving us short a winger again |

Horton is going to get $5.5M-$6M from some team, That is a lot of money to invest into him. Plus they were talking on local radio today here in Boston that his wife wants to live somewhere with nice weather and a chance to pick her modeling career back up. |

apparently the lenght of his contract has already been decided as well... where can i get one of these david clarkson crystal balls that every seems to have to know his contract length and point production and chemisty over the rest of his career? |

Over a max 3 year contract, I'd take Iggy over Clarkson hands down at this point..... theoretically..... |

1. Those are rumors.
2. The Leafs are now a good team.
3. Clarkson will leave the Leafs with that same problem, only worse when he gets demoted to the 3rd line making 5 mil+ |

Clarkson is the replacement of a Clarke/Domi/Tucker. Since those guys have retired, the leafs have been missing a player like that. Sure we have Orr, and McLearan. But Clarkson is capable of scoring more than our enforcers. Just like Clarke was like. |

Was I not talking of the NHL.. did I mention his jr career.. do we really care what a player did in Jr. if he doesn't succeed in the NHL.
Some great players never won a Cup.. they couldn't do it at the highest level.
Now my understanding is a great offence makes a lousy defence look good... 4 straight games.. against a team that had to rob the Leafs to make it the next round. I wished we got the Pens first or in any round... it would've been easy. |
