Wouldn't be good with Phaneuf on the team.
Iginla was part of the group of players that wanted Phaneuf out for having the gaul to demand accountability on the ice. - Feeling Glucky?
That was only a rumour. |

He definitely ahd a couple bad UFA signings.
But overall I think Burkie gets hung out to dry a littel more than he should
He has turned this team from the talent/prospect depleted JFJ era to what we have now... a complete 180 - dragus84
Oh ya, he made some great moves and did a fairly good job for sure.
Not arguing that. |

I would rather not have Kadri on the first line.....simply does not seem ready.
The Leafs better get Vinny! - Fakepartofme
A lot can change in 2013/14 from 2012/2013....just like a lot changed from 2011/2012 for Kadri. I'd give Kadri a shot at it, he did alright when he got that shot in the playoffs on the top line. |

top ten in scoring every year
he'll get that much.. easily. - Dozzer
Absolutely! And they should pay it. I think he is just starting to come into his own as a player. I expect some big years ahead for him. Find him a center who can finish and set up and Phil pushes for top 3 in scoring. |

LOL I just don't see it buddy. I dunno, Kadri is going to have to get a shot. The guy was out 1st round pick in 2009, we drafted him to be a top 6 centre. I think he'd light the lamp with Kessel. Plus Lupul. Skill overdose
Tomorrow is the last day players can be put on waivers to be be bought out by 5 PM July 4th.
So essentially, anyone not on waivers by tomorrow won't be bought out. Expect Komi to be thrown on there. Nonis is taking it right to the wire. The guy can't even negotiate with other teams hahahaha |

True.
But for me, its something I would want to depend on for 82 games right now.
I could be wrong though. |

Players with no-move clauses have option not to go on waivers. Someone like Mike Komisarek may not appear on the list. |

This makes no sense...
Burke didn't just say, "hey, want 5.5 Million?", they had to negotiate that amount... and seeing as Grabo was better than anyone we'd be able to get on the UFA market... in fact, he would have been one of the top UFA Centermen... he had the ball in his court.
Connolly was the next-best option in his UFA class... and because of the play of Bozak and Grabovski, very quickly found himself in the same situation Grabo did last year, an offensive player playing on the 3rd line... That's when his attitude kicked in, and he stopped giving a poop.
his contract wouldn't have been a good comparable for Grabo, because in his UFA year, his numbers were similar, and he was playing way more PK minutes than Grabo.
Blaming Burke for bad contracts is way off track too... since he was one of the few GMs with the foresight to stay away from those crazy backdiving contracts. - Feeling Glucky?
Overall Burke was much more positive than negative imo. However his Free Agent signings showed his American first mentality, and he gave crazy money to guys who really were either not very bright or lazy.
It was Grabbo that had the attitude issue(s) - not at all - I think he's a trooper... it was Connolly. Connolly was outplayed in camp by Kadri but was still the anointed one. Drove me crazy.
He didn't do the back-diving contracts for his own reasons.. and in so doing made the financially mighty Leaf organization weaker when it came to attracting free agents. He did a lot of great things while with Toronto - but his contracts by and large were poor and his free agent signings were equally if not drastically worse.

well, the "Iginla beat up Phaneuf" and "Phaneuf is a cancer" rumours were used as fact, why shouldn't this one be?
Given that he's now the captain of the Leafs, it makes sense. |

I'm assuming this is true for compliance buyouts.
What is the situation with regular buyouts... can't the teams do them at any time? |

“There’s a couple other possible moves… that may happen as we get into free agency,” said Nonis. “Some teams are looking to address certain needs. If they’re unable to do that then I think we’re in a position where we can help those teams out.”
So, to decipher. We'll be trading one of our RFA d-men sometime in mid-July? lol |

The way it is looking now, the Leafs might end up with one of Ribeiro, Weiss or Clarkson, won't be two of them, not enough room unless a trade is made. |

That's what I said/meant.
Kadri outplayed a lot of people in camp, Wilson was an idiot though.
Burke knew the back-diving contracts would be addressed by the NHL, that's why he stayed away, and the Leafs organization is stronger because of that. |

Iginla hated Phaneuf because he and Conroy were good friends. Phaneuf tried throwin one in Conroy's wife one night, and succeeded from what I heard. Iginla and Conroy both tossed Phaneuf at the rink (if anyone remembers Conroy had a broken hand and Phaneuf had a puffy face) and then they went to the coach to say they wanted Phaneuf out of there. That then hit management. So long story short, Phaneuf and Iginla most likely still hate each other and iginla will never end up wherever Phaneuf is. Crazy story I know, but that comes from a really good source. (Conroy's cousin) |

David Poile said he talked with Lecavalier, but Lecavalier would prefer to be on the east coast. |
