Morning everyone.
I don't know a ton of Gauthier, but on paper it looks pretty good. Took some time to watch some pre draft analysis of him and sounds like we got a steal at 21.
anyone actually seen him play? - dragus84
he'll need to speak more english to thin out that french accent.

general question - what does everything think it would take to sign LeCavalier?
5M x 3?
5.5M x 2?
or could he be had for less?
or could a one year deal that lets him return to the Bolts (for less of course) be one.. (this would of course be an under the table deal)... - BorjeFan4Ever
4yrs/20 mil...... with a limited ntc.

there's certainly an element of truth to that...
the opposite holds true as well... where players score in offensive systems - and then their stats drop off when they are placed in structured defensive systems.
I'm curious to see how the Sedins "perform" under Tortorella.
And I'm dying to know what the over/under is for the number of games until Torts calls out Kesler for diving. - BorjeFan4Ever
it's their last year of their current contract and they will not be back after that.

I'd ask for ridiculous money as a hometown premium for having to put up with the constant demands and hassles of family, friends, and wannabe friends. Who needs it.

I heard an interview with him yesterday..he didnt sound bad to me, based on what people were saying... but it might be that I work with 50+% french speaking peeps...so I am used to the heavy accents.
I like the pick, the kid sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders, plays very good defense, size is a big plus.

St. Vinny choosing Toronto over Montreal?
Il est inconcevable, c'est une trahison pur, tabarnak!
He wouldn't dare. - awfside
parce que il peux pas avoir le #4 a Montreal.
So Toronna it will be. |

5-5.5 for 5 was the consensus.
my guess for two would be around 6-6.5
(sorry if this causes a triple post) - Jay Uller
well... I'm hoping Nonis does the following:
1) sign LeCavalier for the aforementioned two or more years at a reasonable amount
2) one 1) is done, buyout Grabo (not because I don't like him, but just for the space)
3) run with LeCavalier and Kadri as the top 2 centers
4) sign Bozak (should be able to get him at 4M for 3 years)
5) sign Clarkson (4 x 4.5 should do it)
6) move Liles any way possible - he's too expensive and too one dimensional as the 7th man
7) sign Franson for 3x2.75 - he shouldn't be getting more than Subban
8) sign Fraser for 1.2 one way - and stop screwing around with him (Nonis this is not necessarily a battle that you need to win - that kid sacraficed himself all season for the team...
9) sign Gunnarson for 2x2.5 - more would be a risk because of the back slide this past season

so once again, Gillis does well... picks Torts over the Sedins... that is going to go down very well in lala land.
someone suggested yesterday that the Canucks should have Tortorella talk to Luongo.... ya - I'm sure that's going to make him feel warm and fuzzy. |

what i like about clarkson isnt necessarily his offense.. its the space he would create and his responsibility and intangibles.
i also fakepartofme is right when he says that it would be a mistake to pverpay him - Dozzer
exactly... I would think 4.5/year would be about max. |

I heard that comparison also.
that would be a homerun...not likely.
1986 draft Damphousse, the one year the leafs got something right... imagine the leafs picking the highest scoring player in the draft

Yes but there is other windows, only the compliance one is July 4th.
The first of these windows opened at 11 p.m. on June 26 and closes at 5 p.m. on July 4. Any player bought out during this window has his salary-cap charge completely wiped clean, but the team must pay two-thirds of the remaining contract across twice the remaining term of the deal. The bought-out players become free agents July 5 and can sign with any team, other than the one that bought out the player. |

just youtube videos for me...
but one thing I found particularly interesting.. he had the broken jaw and missed a number of games. the broken jaw would no doubt would have affected his eating and at that size and youth, he no doubt would be affected from an energy perspective.... so good on him for i) more or less playing consistently through that ii) not being a total zero offensively
his results in the u18 were pretty impressive, apparently he was voted/selected as best forward for the Canadians.
might be a gem. - BorjeFan4Ever
Best defensive forward in the draft so says THN and tsn polls. |

As someone who hasn't watched many Leafs games, whats the deal with McArthure? Good, Bad, Decent?. Scanning your board, he doesn't seem to be any kind of priority for the fans... |
