With the trade of Bolland you have to think that unless #1 happens (haven't heard anything about Ribeiro) or another trade goes down then # 4 and 5 are not going to happen. Kadri, Grabovski, Bolland, McClement/Colborne.

but it's all perspective, not facts. your perspective is that carlyle used him out of want, others is that it was out of necessity. your perspective is that he got the most icetime he must be amazing, not that he played the top line, and got extra minutes killing penalties. etc.

the issue, and the reason you come off so wrong at people, is you refuse to have respect for the idea that people may have differing perspectives and opinions, and it doesn't make them wrong and you right, and vice versa.

it doesn't give you the right to speak to everyone with a different opinion like they're a complete moron who can't see the light like you. your perspective tends to historically be that of the minority. that's closest to a fact.

never know. they could be planning on #1, #2, or #5.. and plan on mcclement playing the wing.

#6 could be trade, which is a total wildcard. hard to say what the plan is.

A and now they have Bolland, who is a much better fit as 3C...
- Big_Lightnin

Right, my post was what I would have thought about Bozak prior to the trade. I just don't see any chance at Bozak being back with the Leafs in any UFA signing / trade scenario. Bolland was not brought in to be the Leafs 3C (not 4C), Bozak is not going to be a 4C, nor will he be a 1 or 2C with both Kadri and Grobovski there. If someone like Vinny is signed then probably Grab traded or bought out with Kadri going to 2C.

Bozak is done as a Leaf no matter how you slice it.

Yup.
Can't sign him unless thy move Grabo. Ut can't move Garbo until all the other available C's sign Nd somebody gets desparate. But by then Bozak pribably signed somewhere else. Anybody who'd take Grabo would happily take Bozak for $1m less A year

-#1 I can see - Grabs gets bought out or traded (long shot)
-#2 Maybe - I just haven't heard any interest in him from Leafs - who knows what's happening in private, I guess - Grabo gets bought out again.
-For number 5, can you see them bringing in one of those guys, paying them a salary and buying out Grabovski too? IMO, the upgrade is too slight to pay for all that and I don't think they will move Grabovski down to 3C and Bolland 4C. I just can't see #5 happening....that said, I would love to be surprised and something blow my mind (as I am sure everyone here would!).

i'm not sure someone would have to get desperate to take grabovski.

1 poor 48 game season in 5 years? i'm sure gm's would see past that.

just have to find a right fit for his remaining 4 years.

Even if he regained his previous form, Grabovski's salary is still too high. Factoring in his subpar last season will just make it all that harder. Only way Leafs retain some of that salary against cap is if they get an asset in return (if they can even do that). Damn, 4yrs seems like a long time at 5.5mill for Grabs....that contract really does suck when you think about all the time left on it.

if he can return to the form he was reliably at before this season, he might be overpaid by a 500k, a mil at the most. i don't think there's anything to suggest he won't return to that form yet, it was 48 games! jonathon toews just had 3 goals in a cup run, tyler seguin even worse. are we to expect their careers to be over?

i'm sure gm's see the big picture, and it's not like his contract is gomez's or luongo's. at the end of the day, if a gm will pay david clarkson in that neighborhood from 1, 1.5 good seasons.. i'm sure there's a few who would validate paying grabovski that much for 4. he's shown more in his career to warrant being paid like a top 6 forward than clarkson has.

i can see a few gm's making that assessment once he shows he will return to form, and a few more gm's not letting 48 games be a deterrent regarding a player who's been fairly consistent over the rest of his career.

nothing flips quicker than leaf nation.

Who said anything about their career being over??
IMO, Clarkson adds more intangibles then Grabovski.

Hey, I hope you are right and other GM's do view him worthy of making a trade for...that would mean he is doing well for the Leafs!

If Grabovski plays like he did against Boston and he's allowed to play in offensive situations then he's worth keeping. He's overpaid at 5.5 mil at the moment but he has the potential to be worth that money. I really think he deserves 2nd line and a power forward who can create space for him.

Its easier to remember this season where he didn't play too swell but lets not forget how good he was for us when it was him Kulemin and MAc and we didn't have Lupul, Kessel or Kadri lighting it up.

I get what your saying, but being big does not make him Dave Steckel. Steckel is one of the worst offensive players I've ever seen at the NHL level, (Excluding fighters, because Steckel can't even do that either.) contributes nearly nothing offensively. See how the kid develops, can't be as bad as Steckel, least I think.

I could see him having value to a poopty, small market team that always has to overpay chumps just to spend to the cap floor.

The big names will go to big markets/contenders and Florida and Phoenix will have to throw their cash at some consolation prize to hit the cap floor.

One of the annoying things about the CBA is that it's not really the big teams that drive up market prices; it's Columbus throwing obscene money at Wisniewski.

Until proven otherwise anything you added means (frank)ing Richard all. Your crystal ball does not count. It has nothing to do with Bozak. It has all to do with Kessel and not one but to coaches have deemed him to be most likely to be successful with Bozak. And the career numbers say they were right. It's not a guessing game.
- honesthockey

How come "he plays a lot, means he's good the coach says so" is valid for Bozak, but not GArdiner?? Cannot have it both ways.

Based on your logic you are wrong about at least one of them.... could easily be both too.

He won't can see it in his game . Here's my bet. Gardiner is in the AHL before Christmas. If he isn't I'll never post negative about him again.
- honesthockey

His skills are evident. Don't have to look hard to find them.

in the AHL by Christmas.

Not necessarily a bad idea but doesn't that create a chicken or the egg scenario?

It'll be hard for anyone to prove they can do a better job in that slot if we never slot anyone else in there for any decent amount of time.
