Take away the season where he had no training camp cause he broke his leg the year before and had to heal and rehab all summer, and his goal trajectory is a lot like Kessel's

Just saying, can twist it a couple ways.

17g as a sophomore playing 12mins a game
23g pace season 3 till he broke his leg.
1 down year
30g
25 g pace

What's spotty again?

- Big_Lightnin

I'm still worried about the 5 goals in final 35 gp to finish 2012/13. But I'm hopeful to be proven wrong if he signs here. I do like him, just years of being a leaf fan and heralding signings, I expect the worst case scenerio.

Players now see the Leafs as a fast riser, in the standings. They will come here and may sign for slightly less, to get to the next level in the playoffs. Adding Bolland gives them a couple of more Stanley Cup rings and a hometown boy. If they get Clarkson, another hometown boy heading this way. If we can grab Vinny, then we have the makings of a strong team, that will compete for top spot in the Northeast. Boston is divesting themselves of some of their current talent, in an attempt to get younger. It's wide open at the top of this division. Saying that, it's also wide open for six of the eight teams to make the playoffs. No time for procrastinating! Time to either play with the big boys, or go home!

that bad year.. was a really bad year. 10 of his goals this year were scored in the first month of the season. from that point on, grabobvski had more goals. yeah, that's not good either.

it's perspective. when signing a guy for that long you have to look at everything. i'm respecting the good.. i'm saying the bad has to be considered. you can't have respect for the bad when signing a longer term contract.

I didn't even see you there. Were you happy with the Nino trade? I like Clutterbuck, gives you one hell of a third line.

I'd agree if it was one season but it wasn't. I'd also agree if it was two or three seasons ago but it wasn't. His style also comes into play. He would look great in a Leaf uniform.
- honesthockey

we've done this. there's no need.

i'll wish you good luck with your clarkson quest if you wish me good luck in not having to be the team that is stuck with him when he busts.

agree to disagree.

Nah Clarksons gotta be top 6 to make it worth it
- Big_Lightnin

He's a fit with Kadri and Lupul. All three like driving the net and Kadri has those soft hands that'll give Clarkson multiple opportunities to score. JVR/Kessel/??? is the wild card. We seem pretty well set up, in the bottom 6. Maybe one more checker, if Colborne can't make the cut.

And you have zero numbers to indicate anything, just you being smarter than everyone. You're not even trying to have an even discussion. You're boring.
- daeth

Want some numbers?

Look up Faceoff %
Look up takeaways
Look up time on ice per game for forwards
Look up shootout goals

Should I keep going?

Look at the team Clarkson played on too! Outside of Kovelchuk, they were pretty desolate. They could be a great trading partner for Grabovski. Volchenkov?

Off topic, He needs to shoot more. Didn't even realize his shooting percentage this season was 19.67%. Career 15.54%. If I was his coach, I'd be on his ass to shoot first pass second.

Fully agree, bit consider why he had he bad year is all I'm saying.

4 good seasons and 1 bad one in the last 5 yrs. not hard to see which is the anomaly
Wen you consider he missed a summer of training while recovering from a broken leg

Not sure why there is so much conversation about Tyler Bozak...

The only reason he was skating as the 1C was because there was no one else to do it. If anyone thinks that Kadri won't better Phil Kessel's hockey game as his center - well, you obviously are a a fool. If you stick McClement in as Kessel's center, he probably produces almost identical numbers to Bozak while Kessel most likely produces the same numbers as well.
Even if Bozak were to return, Leafs should still stick Kadri on the first line (if they don't get Vinny or another potential 1C).....Kadri is a much better center for Kessel to work with.....

All this LOVE from HH for Bozak is mind boggling!!

Until proven otherwise anything you added means (frank)ing Richard all. Your crystal ball does not count. It has nothing to do with Bozak. It has all to do with Kessel and not one but to coaches have deemed him to be most likely to be successful with Bozak. And the career numbers say they were right. It's not a guessing game.

180 shots, 17:35 ATOI, and an 8% shooting percentage, I've seen many of his goals, unless he's playing with Gretzky in T.O. I wouldn't expect his numbers to jump in T.O. When he scored his 30, a good 20 of them had Parise/Elias on the ice, I know, I posted the youtube video here.

i'm not going to disagree with you..

but i'm saying none of his good seasons were 5 mil seasons, aside from one. one career year at 28 which may have been a 5 mil season.

i think to throw that kind of money at him in free agency is a horrible idea. the majority of players go to free agency to land ridiculous career contracts. theres no free agent this year who reminds of that vast majority of contracts that are horrible signed in free agency like the one he's going to get.

we're talking about a guy who's one good season 'might' be worth 5 mil, the rest of which weren't worth anymore than brandon prusts 2.4 in my opinion.

Based on those numbers how much would you be willing to spend on him?

That's the core issue here. If the rumoured $5M is even close to being true I don't see why Toronto should even consider keeping him.

Hell I've said it 10 times on here I wouldn't pay him 5 million either. But to say he's useless is retarded.

No one needs a crystal ball, they just need eyes to see.
Bozak is one of the worst 1C's in the NHL while Kessel is one of the best wingers.
You almost have to feel sorry for Kessel to be weighed down by playing with a mediocre 1C.
For someone that rants about virtually all Leaf players sucking and then defending TYLER (frank)ING BOZAK the way you do......one has to wonder if you are actually related to this guy or something!
