Ummm did he? I'm pretty sure he did a decent job with that.
- burn

Burn, he had a crap season. I give him a D- for this season. It was nice to see the fire back in the playoffs, but even in the playoffs, I thought he was gold in the offensive zone, but a huge liability in our own zone.....though in his defense, O'Byrne did a fine job of turning over the puck while on the ice with grabo.

What's wrong with Corsi? Are you saying that a bad angle shot or a blocked shot isn't as valuable as a high scoring chance shot or goal?

Shot 49foot wide=a goal.

Yes he did, but played bottom pair minutes against the other teams bottom lines. If he was put out against the top lines, he would struggle, but he's OK as a 6/7 defenseman.

Exactly where you need a guy like him.

I've always felt Bozak is a better 'all round' player when hes not with Kessel. Not a better offensive player, just a player you can rely on. I don't hate him at all.
- mykokes

100% agree.. He ALWAYS looks for Kessel, even if it means passing it in a prime shooting area

And he's got a great shot......not very good at receiving gimme goals, but he can definetly put the puck past goalies with those shots.

Unsurprisingly Jason Blake was near the top in Corsi for the team when he was in Toronto.

Such an awful stat.

But if Grabo can pot a 50 point pace on our 2nd line, which he has done 3 times in the past, then we don't have to make the trade you suggest right? I just don't see any of the fa centres coming in to toronto at a cheaper price and doing much better. The ones who could do better, aren't signing here. Like its a no-brainer to me, the ideal fa centre to sign is vinny, he's got the faceoff percentage, can score, has size.......but the (frank)er is too much of a chicken poop to play here or Montreal.
- mykokes

Bottom line, we are too small at center. Our faceoff percentage, without Bozak is terrible. We lost to Boston because of that matchup and the same could be said against Pittsburgh. Do we want the same results this year, as last, or do we want to start winning some playoff series? Losing Bozak and keeping Grabo and Kadri as 1 - 2, only guarantees another early playoff exit, or not making the playoffs. Don't forget, Detroit joins the party this year and it's going to be harder to make it, in the North East. Boston, Montreal, Ottawa, Detroit, Toronto. It's not going to be easy to get in. Buffalo, Tampa and Florida will not stay down forever, either.

I would bet if you put that to a poll of the fans and maybe even the press, you'd get a different opinion.

Explain.

He matched up against the other teams best and did well. People at raging on him because he didn't score much (too busy doing other things) he did a good job in the shutdown role.

No. +\- is an even strength stat. No + on the PP. can get a - on the pp for giving up shorty.

He didn't do a good job. He was a liability, in his own end and couldn't put up any numbers. I listened to different commentators talk about what an off season that he was having. Sure, he played with passion, in the playoffs, but couldn't shut down the Krejci line. Carlyle had to start using our top line, against theirs, to try and slow them down. It didn't work out so well. Once their big guys got rolling, we were in trouble. If we go in with Grabo and Kadri as 1 - 2, then we might as well tank the season, because it won't get any better.

Not getting much of a Response when I propose Ryan Whitney UFA at less than 3 mil. Anyone know why? The guy has been playing D for Edmonton!

Does he shoot left, or right? If he shoots right, they should bring him in, on the bottom pair. Ference should be brought in to play with Phaneuf. Let Gardiner and Franson play together. Leave Gunnerson and Frazer for the bottom pair. If he shoots right, play him with Gunnerson.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not frightened by Detroit....maybe tampa, but not detroit. I also think guys like Kadri, JVR, Gardiner will get better and more consistent. I also think Bolland will do just fine here. That's just me I guess, I also think Grabo has a lot more to give then he did last year. And like I said, just because we start the year with Kadri/Grabo/Bolland up the middle, doesn't mean that's how we finish..........by Feb next year, or is it Jan....I want the Leafs to make a real push for RoR.
