Was Jonas Hoglund a 1st liner? Or was he just put there out of necessity? Your argument is flawed. - ThePresident

Then put Clarkson on the second line. - RogerRoeper
He's a 3rd liner, we already have enough of them. |

Clarkson had one 30 goal season. Before that he never broke 20
Never had more than 50 pts, and we're talking about giving him 5m?!
He's not the embodiment of a PF too, he's only 6' - 200lbs - AngryWhiteMale
Kind of reminds me of when Tucker cashed in the year he scored the most goals in his career only because we didn't have a viable option for a winger on the first line powerplay with Sundin. |

Exactly, he's going to be the next Colby Armstrong, but at 5 million plus. Any team that picks him up will be regretting it. |

all first lines have someone there out of necessity... theres hardly a team out there that has 3 legitimate first liners on the first line... its who can do well in that spot... hence why bozak was our first line centre for how many years... because he worked well with kessel... I'm saying... hes proven he can finish and can keep up with good players... and im saying it makes sense to put him with kadri and kessel because he can open up space for them... i dont care if hes not the typical 6'4 PWF... hes a tough SOB and you cant argue with that... at no point in my argument did i say clarkson is a bonafide hall of fame powerforward first line winger... read and dont put words in my mouth |

I'd rather throw 2 years at 5 million per toward Iginla then Clarkson who will only become a whipping boy once he's down on the 3rd line being paid 5 million+ per year. - ThePresident
Was Iggy Dion's captain?...if so, can Iggy handle Dion being his captain?...... just sayin... |

youd rather throw 10 mill at a guy who clearly clashes with our captain and when the team has developed more and is ready to compete then retires leaving us in the same spot we are now... smart move man... smart move |

Mac, if he had anything, it was finish. You put him in a spot with a decent chance to score and he'll manage to bury it. |

If we do sign clarkson to a deal that is 5 mill plus, hold onto that buyout for next season in case he poops the bed. |

Don't forget about jay mcclement - kesselisking81
McClement will be used more on the wing with the addition of Bolland.

The decline in his stats is not goals but entirely on assists and started when Kule went dry couple years ago. He still set guys up and bagged goals. He's a 50 60 point guy easy if Kulemin finishes. |

And nobody would argue that Bozak is worth 5 million dollars, because he's not supposed to be on the 1st line, and his stats are inflated because he's playing on the first line. We already have McLaren, Orr, and maybe Fraser for those duties, and at much cheaper. Clarkson already reached his ceiling, from here on out he's going to be a 30 pt player and only declining every year with the way he plays. Iginla would bring so much more to this team, especially the 2nd line. |

First Bolland, and now sounds like they'll take a run at Clarkson. Hope they don't overpay to make it happen, but signing some local guys who play a rough style game is not the worst thing that could happen... |
