The scouting reports are all nice, also got good size 6'2'', 203 Lb's.

"A very all-round two-way defenseman. Hägg is capable of playing a pure defensive role, logging big minutes on the penalty kill, as well as contributing offensively and being valuable in power play situations. Furthermore, Hägg has good size and strength, very good vision, a heavy release and is also a mobile defenseman. Some consistency issues, although Hägg usually makes smarter plays while playing in the big league, rather than in the juniors. Lots of potential (EP, 2013)"

Hopefully he develops nicely and is stud with this team.

Ive heard multiple comparisons... but anytime Kim Johnsson and Nicklas Kronwall can be used to describe the same player.. Im interested.

Next season is a big one for MAB... He's a RFA after next season.

Id be a little more concerned with him even being able to skate than hitting RFA status..

So am I reading capgeek right?
We have about $9M to spend on goalie / FA?
That's with Pronger on LTIR, with Streit, and without the 10M overage we would get in the summer only before the season starts.
We also need to extend offers to Gus, Lauri, and possibly Manning.
Sound about right?

I'd say we don't HAVE to move any of our D for cap space reasons. Although it's still a strong possibility.

The Off Season exemption is 10% of the Upper Limit. Not 10M

I thought that this year as a special exemption it was changed to be $10 over due to the decrease in the cap. It's normally 10% over max.

EDIT: I'm gonna make you look it up MJL, I have a meeting to run

Mez for Stafford, call it a day.

I would prefer this scenario over a Vinny Lecavalier signing.

I saw this earlier but why did we have the lockout again? 5.6 for Bob with how many games played? Mike Smith signs for about the same, this was a journeyman before Pheonix. Just seems like we will be in the very same spot next go round luckily that wont be for another 8 years.

I wonder what the asking price for Edler was. Unfortunately, his NTC kicks in today. I thought for sure the Canucks would move him.

So here's a nice video that talks a little bit about Morin and Hagg. Click on the video player, apparently Robert's name is pronounced Hegg

Starts with Morin at 00:55 and then goes on to talk about Hagg

edit: it's in english obviously, even if it is a swedish hockey site

Should have held onto Lupul instead of flipping him for Pronger.

Jason Smith gave them a solid year as captain.

Lupul won a game with an OT goal and eventually was shipped out as part of the Pronger deal.

I'm not gonna say it was a good trade, but let's not pretend that Joni Pitkanen ever got close to realizing his potential.

Dave Tippet is apparently very good at making mediocre goaltenders very wealthy.

Smart move on the term of Bob's contract, fwiw.

That he is but those salaries are pretty ridiculous, drives up the price for every other goaltender too.

Ask Toronto if they'd trade Lupul for Pitkanen straight up.

Goes in cycles though. Only a matter of time before teams realize you don't have to pay $5-6M per year to a goalie in order to win a championship.

I guess there are pro's and con's in doing it though.

so everyone except Kessel?

Nice for Wellwood, I thought with that injury he might get left out.

Good to see them do right by him, even if it's technically a waste of a contract slot.
