Maatta's stock fell considerably at last years draft... and he didnt exactly have a stellar Memorial Cup.

I dont think anyone was saying that about Laughton... he was still projected to go first round.

The Filip Forsberg trade is still the biggest surprise to me.

Philadelphia Flyers—C-minus

Center Scott Laughton felt like something of a reach at No. 20 in the first round, and you have to wonder about spending a second-round pick on a goalie in Anthony Stolarz who, while 6-5 and 210 pounds, was cut from two teams in the Eastern Junior Hockey League last summer. That information comes from Stolarz’s profile page on the NHL website, which lists his favorite place to visit as “Batman.”

Sounds very similar. "Why didn't we take Maata(Pulock)! OMG the pens(Isles) got Maata(Pulock)!"

Cap will be tight signing Lecav.., Gagne and a backup goalie while trading mez if they can. I do like the fact they would have added to the team while keeping all their picks.

I don't understand everyone's fascination with trading down for more 2nd and 3rd round picks. From what I remember reading historically only 25% of 2nd rounders made it to the NHL and played 200 games and 12% of 3rd rounders. Since 1990 only 3 players have played 200 games that were selected by the flyers in the 2nd round and 4 in the 3rd.

Consensus rankings are well and good, but every team has it's own internal board and rates players different. I won't lie, I preferred Pulock and Zadorov, but I like Morin as well.

Just the overall negativity is tiresome.

- Jsaquella

I did say I like Morin, and think he will develop, I just think the Flyers screwed the pooch by not trading down and getting more for a realtivity same player. And yes I'll admit it might not have been available if the nah sayers will admit it might have been done.

It just seems like the draft was mis-played, like last seasons UFA.

Do you have a comparable to Morin?
- JAKEw1234

Had it in today's blog: A bigger and better skating Luke Schenn but less polished overall at the same age.

I saw where we got a D grade from whothe(frank)knows on some site for picking Morin at #11.

I quit being a Flyers fan right then and there. I'm just here trolling you all now.

Just getting home from work. I need a recap on the first 325 or so responses to Bill's blog.

For my part. I'm reluctantly on board with the Morin pick.

The thing is, if Morin was on the top of their draft board, and they felt that somebody else would grab him if they traded down, then it's hard to argue their actions.

As did I.

But the truth is, I did so because of what several scouting services reported about them. Admittedly, I've never seen enough of Moran, Pulock, or Zadorov to truly express an informed and intelligent opinion regarding where their futures lie.

Ask me again in five years and I'll be able to give you a more confident argument as to whether the Flyers should've went in another direction.

Every two way forward is projected as Mike Richards. The Flyers have Mike Richards II (Schenn), Mike Richards III (Coots) and Mike Richards IV (Laughton).

Coots has always been compared to Jordan Staal
