I was told Burke was so bad as well, and proof of that was Kari
- RogerRoeper

So what you are telling me is he drafted an average of what? Top 6 every single season. He got something right well done, well done indeed

One had to go. Its either sell low on Edler or buyout Ballard. I am all for trading Edler and keeping Ballard if we can get a top 6 young roster player
- Bieksa#3

Yeah I think even after buying out Ballard Canucks nned to make one more splash in FA. Clarkson would be awesome

The Canucks got older in that trade. Hard to believe people think this team is going the other way any time soon.... we still have to wade our way through mediocre prospect talent for a few years before we get a honest read on these 1st rounders that were picked year.

Whats going to happen with Luongo? Now he is expected to go the distence on a team he wants off of, and a team that didnt think he was their 1st anymore... a team that clearly showed they don't trust him in the playoffs anymore(x2) regardless of Cory being moved. Its a different mindset in a bad slump when there is so much recent history. It's easier to say (frank) it some nights....

Do we trust Luongo deep in the playoffs even? I don't even know myself.... not with this very team who cant score inspite of him suck or standing on his head.

Pfft. We got 10 mil what, 8 players? 5.5-6 mil for Clarkson is way out of our budget. Booth would need to go

Fortunately for Booth, his injuries means he cant be moved. He's never healthy long enough to move him. He's just a cancer really. A salary cap sucking leach.

I just found a new name for a fly. A Cap Sucking Leach... also known as "The Booth".

I think the writing on the wall has been here for this one for about a month. Was it FA who refused to buy out Lu or Gilles? None of us know. I like Schneider, and if i had to chose between the 2 given there age and contracts I would unquestionably take Schneider. But I can't help but think a few to many guys around here give Schneider a free pass quite often. I was all for trading Schneider, was hoping for a better return but....whatever. I'm more happy with this direction then the other.

But thats more of a spin because the players I'm listing are not veterans with larger contracts with the exception of Cory's new one but he made it deeper into his career than all the rest and in his prime!

What you are doing is burying the point I'm making with what every decent team has.... veterans picked in the 1st round at one time or another by other teams. I don't see how it changes anything I've said. I'm talking about Gillis the generation killer....

You seem to be auditioning for a public relations job or something. I hear Tort hasnt selected his staff yet... wait, Gillis took over that part of the coaching role and wont let it go.... even after he failed by forcing Walter and Brown on AV and firing the most positive effect GT coach Luongo has ever had so they could change how Lu thinks the position....

- boonerbuck

The Canucks couldn't afford me, although Gillis doesn't seem to mind throwing good money away on poop players? (Booth, Me & Ballard)

Ok I'll do this - 1st round picks at or under the age of 25 (?) that were drafted or traded for. Oh never mind, it's not as bad as you're making it out to be. He got rid of Grabner and kept Raymond, bid deal. He got rid of Hodgson but he got Kassian, big deal. He got rid of Schneider but he got Horvat, so what, I like our prospect pool now and he had to do something. Where he (frank)ed up is he should have traded Schneider last summer, chalk another one on his list.

I've read a few articles that suggest he can. Apparently the same rules don't apply to compiancy buyouts as regular. I don't know for sure though.

When you've been drafting players for 20 years and you get four picks right, you're not very good at it.

Fixed

I am of firm belief that Gilles could have gotten a decent package for Lu at the draft if he had a realistic price

The team is not as good today as it was 48 hours ago, that's for sure. But our prospect pool is much better. If I was Lu I'd tell the Italian stallion and meathead to go (frank) themselves on September 15th, now that'd be funny!

This draft or last draft? Remeber the word is Lu said no to a few teams, he holds the final trump card in all of this.

I don't know, I don't think there was a deal out there to be made for that contract. They were fine in the last CBA, Hossa has one, Franzen has one, Zetterberg has one, etc etc, but they just don't work in today's NHL unless you're playing for the team that gave it to you.

were not trash talking you because of our teams results... were trash talking you cuz we had to put up with 14 months of your fanbases retards telling us how all our top prospects and our 1st needed to be traded to you guys to get luongo... and all the time we said no you said we were idiots... like i said earlier... now you still have 13 months and 30 days left

I don't think the Canucks should really care that Core Schneider going to EDM might make them a "dynasty" in a couple of years. The Canucks basically have this year and next to challenge for a cup before going full rebuild. Horvat at #9 and Shinkaruk at #24 will help that rebuild along nicely. But Horvat at #7, Shinkaruk at #24, a 2nd rounder and an Oilers prospect would have been better.

It would appear now that after reports out of edm and Vancouver today that that was never an offer. All fabricated by Dreger. What a surprise

Right...but the writing was on the wall. Who knows, I'm ok with the way it's turned out. If Lu said no to Toronto, as reported, I'm not sure what else was out there?
