I don't think the Canucks should really care that Core Schneider going to EDM might make them a "dynasty" in a couple of years. The Canucks basically have this year and next to challenge for a cup before going full rebuild. Horvat at #9 and Shinkaruk at #24 will help that rebuild along nicely. But Horvat at #7, Shinkaruk at #24, a 2nd rounder and an Oilers prospect would have been better.

Right...but the writing was on the wall. Who knows, I'm ok with the way it's turned out. If Lu said no to Toronto, as reported, I'm not sure what else was out there?

He wanted Tampa or Florida they knew it and played hard ball Gillis lost.

I'm really happy with it, seriously! Look at the returns for goaltenders who've played less than 100 NHL games, I think they should have gotten a second round pick as well but team knew they had MG in a difficult spot.

I'm extremely happy with a very highend prospect in the deepest draft since 2003. Our prospect pool looks much better, we now have a bit of breathing room on cap and we still have outstanding goaltending.

Semyon Varlamov got the 11th overall selection last year. Cs should have gotten more. Im happy with what we got but the reality is who is better Varla or CS. I dont even think we need to debate that.

I get your point. But its not a very well thought out post. What draft was stronger? And its not even close

I wasnt comparing drafts. I merely stated to think even for a second that we got fair value for CS is in LALA fandom land. Go back to the posts for the last 4 months. Everyone wanted NHL ready players and a top prospect.

Also since the trade people kept on saying that Goalies dont get a good return because of the market. I merely pointed out that Varlamov got the 11th overall choice. Is Bo better than filip forsberg. Yes but to even compare varlamov to CS is a joke. Varla sucks.

Prospects are just prospects. Look at even the 2003 draft. Which every person has said is still the best draft ever. Lots of 1st round busts in that draft.

Every yr the value of high 1st Rounders varies depending on the strength of the draft. NFL and NBA are no different

2003 draft busts. This draft by everyone standards is the gold standard of all NHL entry drafts

1. Fluery - Cup Champion but looking like he is done
3. Zherdev - BUST
6. Michalek - Ok player
8 Coburn - Ok
9 Phaneuf - According to everyone on here he sucks ( i think he is a good D man)
10. Kostitsyn - OK
12 - Jessiman - Dont even know who he is
16. Steve Bernier - Bust
22. M antoine Pouliot - Bust
25 - A Stewart - Bust
27. Jeff Tambelini - Bust
30 Shawn belle - Bust

Thats almost a 50% bust rate and is supposed to be the best draft of all time. So before we start naming Bo the next captain of our team lets see him play in the NHL 1st.

Look no further then the last 2 NFL drafts. Redskins sold the farm to move up to 2nd overall. I bet a couple 2nd Rounders could have moved you from 8th spot to the 2nd this yr.

good point. But the system he is in combined with all scouts calling him the safest pick and the most complete player in the draft makes it a bit more comforting

Why don't you ask Doughty and Brown. They run the school. Not to say Vancouver doesn't have divers but Doughty is far and away the worst(or best) diver in hockey. As somebody who seen the majority of his Jr games its been there his whole life

The NFL is a different animal. They have that point system that the live and die by. The only exception is when you have to pay more like they did for RG3 and Luck. Other than that it pretty much goes according to the draft pick point system. I love the NFL.

Kind of similar to the Halak trade from Montreal to St. Louis, Halak outplayed Price yet he was dealt. He had just under 100 games like Cory, he was 25 little younger than Cory. Montreal got a high pick in Lars Eller (13th overall) and some kid who never played a game. Time will tell.

Dont get my wrong i am very big on Bo. But to actually think that both Bo and Hunter will be NHL top 6 players is a stretch. One will bust and one will be good. MG hasnt proven that he is this draft savant.

Listening to Gillis on Team1040, he said if Ballard clears they'll recall him and put him on unconditional waivers to buy him out. Why tell everyone? Just to it....idiot!

As I've said in the past numerous times I hate their drafting. He always (frank)s up. Not as bad as when no nuts was here but it isn't good. I had Shinkaruk at #6 and Horvat at #10. I am beaming. 2 top 10,s(IMO) in this draft. As somebody who lives in Ontario I see a ton of BoHo. Think P Bergeron with a nasty mean streak. And HS, think a more explosive and driven Kadri.
