to be real, we wont know what teams actually "won" this draft for about another 3-4 years. |

I'm not unhappy with the pick. Nich has the potential to be a superstar, but also has the potential to be filatov or radulov.
EDM went with the safe pick. Nurse, Klefbom, Marincin, Gernat, Musil all LH D prospects. Petry and Schultz on the right side in EDM. I like the pick. EDM's D won't be such a liability in the near future - TheNugeIsHuge

A team had him 4th on their list. - pker2theend
Jonathan Willis was laughing because he had a sub-PPG season, but this is a guy you can't just look at his stat line n say he won't turn out to be a great player. I definitely think he's better than Shinkaruk, who I think is 1 dimensional, but a workhorse at the same time. In time he could be a ROR type player if he turns out IMO |

The whole not trading within the division thing is one of the stupider things you see within professional sports. Passing up trades that would make you comparatively stronger relative to the other 29 teams in the league in order to limit the capabilities of one team does nothing to help a team win the cup.
It does the opposite. - Pookie
Please explain how a 2nd round pick and a roster player from the 7th worst team would make us comparatively stronger. I think you're just upset that you didn't get Cory, but then again we've been told so many times how much of a better goalie DD is, to bad your management doesn't feel the same. |

you can say the same thing about the Schneider trade. But Horvat'll have to be quite good to have VAN win that one. I think Schneider's gonna win a vezina or two in his career. |

Meh only time will tell. I was just wishing we would trade edler for some more young player, personally I think its time for the canucks to rebuild, I'm getting real sick of our core right now. The canucks have enough assets for a 2-3 year rebuild. |

I was reading (a rumor of course) that the wings offer for Edler was Smith and Tatar. Again just a rumor. |

well as you can see, VAN's prospect depth, is poop.
7th overall+37th(where Zykov, Santini, Bowey were all available)+a good prospect>9th overall.
And Dubey's a fine goalie. No one thinks he's better than Schneider, but the difference between the two is not worth stripping most of EDM's non roster assets. |

That's pretty ridiculous.
Some had him as low as 14 (still pretty close to 10), and some had him as high as the top 5.
Personally, I would have preferred Nichushkin, but Horvat is still an excellent pick. - Fosco
As per Mac at the draft, one team had him at 4. |

We just opened up 9 million. 13.5 if booth is bought out.
Leafs won't make the playoffs this year, unless there is another shortened season. ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) - Scooby_Doo
Leafs take the second best team to 7 games. Vancouver gets swept.
Toronto makes upgrades, Vancouver loses their best goalie, and is stuck with a guy that doesn't want to be there.

I won't disagree. But ROR or Mike Richards is propably being conservative for Horvat. He was easily the best player on the Knights during the playoffs and mem cup. |

According to TSN Aquieni was in Florida at Luongo's house to tell him before the trade was announced. Keep trolling ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) - Bieksa#3

Who was the roster player? Horcoff or Hemsky? Unless it was somebody making less the 1 mill and could without question make the roster its a moot point. |

It could yes. Lots of 2nd round picks pan out into fantastic players.
The question essentially becomes, is Vancouver worried that the Oilers are going to be the one thing standing between them and a cup? Because that is the only scenario where leaving assets on the table to avoid a trade with Edm would make sense. |

Meh, I think Vancouver did better then any team in this draft. Both guys were top 12-15 on most teams radar. As somebody who blasts Vancouver drafting yearly, I am blown away with our haul from this draft. Time will tell but it appears the change in chief scout was a good move |

TO did have a ridiculously lucky shortened season. I suspected they wouldn't change anything, but it's really good that Nonis is upgrading. |

Exactly, I'll take our 2 first rounders over Calgary's 3 any day of the week.
Edit: and we finally took a WHLer. |

I think that had a lot to do with it. Edm as per tsn made a huge play for bob as well. It would appear they don't believe in dubby |

you get a better prospect at 7, and 2 other good prospects. Tell me a W prospect that VAN has that's better than Zykov. |
