Miller, sure, just not Miller's contract. It's too rich and too short - Morris
Compared to some other deals, Miller's contract isn't all that bad... If Smith is worth 5.7 per, and Bob is worth the probable 7 million + that his new contract will give him, then Miller is worth 6.25. And with the shortness of it, he'd probably sign long term for even less for his new contract. |

ESPN gave the Sabres an A +
Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov gives Buffalo two elite-sized, gritty D-men with picks No. 8 and No. 16 and, over time, will have a major impact on the back end. The blue line was a big need for the Buffalo system, and they addressed it as well as they could with their first two selections. In the second round, the Sabres add skilled, blue-collar forward J.T. Compher, and two big hard working forwards in Connor Hurley from Edina High School and Justin Bailey from Kitchener of the OHL -- both give added size. This was a really strong draft for the Sabres. |

I'll go out on a limb and say he had a terrible 1st round. Not that I know anything about the players he took, just going by DR's track record. |

I liked his first round. Call me crazy but I have no problem drafting dmen. Especially big physical ones who have talent. |

I'd give Darcy a B overall. As much as I wanted Nichuskin / Lindholm plus a D.....we are now stacked on D. I was hoping we would take Risto as one of our picks. With Girgensons and Grigorenko having a semi season under their belt playing NHL and AHL... and Armia coming up...and Larsson from Minnesota... I think we have a good front end right now too. We still need some off season acquisitions though to solidify the top 6 in my opinion. |

You do realize ESPN pretty much uses a lot of TSN content right? They're minority owners of the company. |

Trade Sekera, waive Brennan (neither of whom was long in the tooth)...
And burn 2 highly coveted 1st rd picks (in an elite draft clsss) on d-men..
Kinda looks like Buffalo is spinning their wheels to me. The first half of the firdt rd is where you should be looking for elite scoring. |

Everything I've read puts us as one of the clear winners of the draft, nothing below an A- grade (I think the biggest was The Hockey News). So yeah, despite what the pro scouts here at hockeybuzz said, the team did great. |

I think it's going to rely on the rest of the summer to determine just how good this draft was. If Darcy has irons in the fire for a scoring winger, and it actually comes to fruition, then the draft was brilliant. If we don't get a scoring forward and Miller and Vanek are still here through next season, then maybe not so much. |
