unless nino has played just as many nhl games as clutterbuck or has comparable stats, nyi got a fair deal.

Regarding Nichushkin the KHL isn't an overall threat to the NHL but it is a threat to steal Russian players from the NHL.

If you don't overpay your Russian guys after their entry level deal expires the KHL will and many of the Russians are quite happy to get paid big money in their home country. Who could really blame them?

Just read eks blog that says the oilers will do everything they can for horton. Good to hear, something for you to relize clouts, sometimes you win some times you lose mact has already been busier then almost any other gm he's been linked to nearly every big name out there aside from vinny. He might not get them, but he's busting his ass trying

I've also been thinkin about what the oilers D will look ile next year. I'm thinking it could possibly look like this though it's a long shot.

the way i have this worked is that the rookies are paired with vets. Thats not a bad D at all, young yes and it's dangerous to have two rookie D on the back end at once but i'm guessing that both nurse and klefbom get at least 5 games in the NHL next year to give them the feel for it. I suspect nurse will go back and belov will take his place and tahts fine but getting him a few games would be good for him. We'll be ok we will at any rate be better then calgary. and maybe vancouver if loungo demands to leave nuck town due to the screw up giles made. Amusin thought that.

Seriously, the Canucks did pretty good. Bo Horvat and Hunter Shinkaruk in the 1st round. Hate is such a compliment, keep hating its an honor and I salute you my fellow Edmonton counterparts. Hockey is competitive and Canucks are the most hated team by other teams fans in the league, what an awesome status for a Canuck fan to know they get into your heads so much, its awesome. As for the Oilers, this was an awesome pick by them. Despite the belief out there that the Oilers are stacked on Defense, they arnt, they just have a bunch of puck movers that arnt NHL ready. They basically have no one like Nurse. Nurse is a stud defenseman. Oilers should persue local Jonny Boychuk aswell. There probably with the exception of Fistric has the softest D in the league. Great pick by MacT today.

If we ignore the entire underlined part, he's not wrong. Van made some nice picks today, but he, like most Van fans, are ignoring the fiasco that has been Gillis' handling of the goaltending situation for the last two years, only to see it culminate in the exact opposite path he started down after the playoffs two years ago.

Nurse is a good pickup, I have no problem with taking him. If nothing else, having a handful of NHL or close-to-NHL D prospects gives you options down the road.

At this point though I feel the team is edging on rebuild. And now there is actually a few decent players in the pipes. Still wish Connauton wasn't traded but oh well.

At least you got some value for him. Filatov in a similar situation got a 3rd rounder. Isles got that plus a decent NHL player.

It's been one (fran)in day he's got all summer to do something. Also i'm not being optimistic, just realistic otpimism would be saying the oilers will make the playoffs next year and i don't believe i said that. I simply said MacT played it smart. THere is no need to draft a goalie dubnyk had decent numbers on a horrible team, give him D and he'll be much better and yes that legit D is named Darnell Nurse get used to it. THere is time, roam wasn't Frickin built in a day.

Maybe my expectations were too high then.
I love the Nurse pick. But I don't want to see him rushed so he
better play in junior and AHL and earn his spot. I don't think you
can trade for quality D. So draft and be patient. I giet it.
I like Dubnyk. But our other prospect Bunz had a horrible year I doubt he
bounces back. So draft a Goalie to replace the prospects. I don't expect that
Goalie to replace Dube.

His handling of his goalie situation was horrible...but I think he'll actually look good on the Schneider trade in the end. Overhyped goalies rarely meet the expectations.
