Agreed EDM is a tough sell to free agents however the young core of skilled players should be more enticing now. Besides as soon as they traded 37 I thought they should have kept it. Fucale was just taken but what do they have bunz and Olivier Roy for top goalie prospects? Comrie and jarry immediately would of topped those 2 for goalie depth even if its a few years down the road I'm not so sure the goalie depth hart is strong right now. Look at what leafs gave for bolland. Wow 3rd liner exactly what EDM needs to play now. Anyways I guess it is what it is. I do think teams prefer opposite conference trade partners I can see how being GM isn't as easy as we think.

If they didn't get fucale they had afew other prospects deeper that they thought had a chance{they watched these players more than I did} I guess it was a good deal. With most things in life the more the better the chance, all three could turn out time will tell. I just think people are forgetting its MacT first year as GM. I said he should coach and we should have got and experienced GM but that's not the case. I know Mact will turn into a good GM but itll take time same with the team and the coach, but when all three get going this team will be great. Everyone is mad we didn't get a roster player myself included but I give props to Mact not making a trade just cause we really lucked out with the whole schneider thing could have been bad for us.

We will get some lower pairing guys. In FREE AGENCY!!! Really, with the limited assets we have to trade, the FREE part is where Mac T has to go to get players.

Yup... you're not going to get a franchise type player there (apart from Vinny!!!), but there are plenty of quality, 3rd and 4th line guys who can be had for reasonable cost and will help the team immensely.

What took Chi/Boston to the cup final was not so much their upper talent, it was being able to roll out guys like Bickell, Bolland ( ), Shaw, Paille, Campbell, Peverley, Thornton on the lower lines.

Yup... you're not going to get a franchise type player there (apart from Vinny!!!), but there are plenty of quality, 3rd and 4th line guys who can be had for reasonable cost and will help the team immensely.

Clouts, you really are an idiot. All those guys you named usless, mcbain not very good, seikera depth D, clutterbuck, has issues with hall the two wouldn't have been able to get along on the same team, nidimier, atatude issues not as good as you think either. Now about nurse general feeling is that you've got a big mouth with no brains when it comes to him. About 90% of people i've talked to are very happy with him. Now i'll admit this much I wanted Necheskin (or however the Frank you spell it) to play with yakupov, but nurse fills a need that we have. And dispite all you say the oilers D prospects are mostly guys with a lot of raw talent but most of them will not pan out. Nurse seems to be a lock. Lastly about trades, you did notice that macT was not the only one that didn't do anything as far as roster players go. There are twenty-nine other teams who have their on agenda's mact can't just make trades because clouts feels bored. That and things move very fast down there, plans need to be changed and adjusted on the fly and that leaves very little time for trades to come through on draft day most of them get started on draft day but come through a few days later thats how it goes and you're blind as a bat to not have relized that by now. We drafted 8 fowards and 2 D this year. Roy looks like a solid future third line LW Yakinov is a mosse, mabe you'll be calling him the next lucic in a few years dispite the fact you'll still nknow nothhing about him. A boring day yes, but not just for the oilers, the draft is way overhyped as a day that lots of trades happen on thats not the case as the last number of years have shown. This was a deep draft, the fact that you don't care about anything outside of the top round proves the fact that you don't understand this very well. The draft is about taking as few risks as possible risks can come via possible trades and free agency but frankly you can't afford to give up picks for guys that might not help you. See detroit please tell me where dysuck and zettenberg were drafted please. THere are always those dimonds in themine and you can't afford to pass them up. Lastly the general feeling is that MacT did a good job today much better then feasters first run at the draft, he clearly listened to his scouts and that is very importaint, it means he is willing to take advice and let his people do their jobs as well as knowing his own. WHitch is to improve the oilers, and not to make stupid trades, in that regard he has already proven himself better then ST and if on friday he does nothing because there is nothing for him then that in itself is a bold move and a smart one, he refuses to overpay we shall see about that later this week but for now i give him a 7 out of 10 for this draft. Not a bad score.

Just read eks blog that says the oilers will do everything they can for horton. Good to hear, something for you to relize clouts, sometimes you win some times you lose mact has already been busier then almost any other gm he's been linked to nearly every big name out there aside from vinny. He might not get them, but he's busting his ass trying

I've also been thinkin about what the oilers D will look ile next year. I'm thinking it could possibly look like this though it's a long shot.

the way i have this worked is that the rookies are paired with vets. Thats not a bad D at all, young yes and it's dangerous to have two rookie D on the back end at once but i'm guessing that both nurse and klefbom get at least 5 games in the NHL next year to give them the feel for it. I suspect nurse will go back and belov will take his place and tahts fine but getting him a few games would be good for him. We'll be ok we will at any rate be better then calgary. and maybe vancouver if loungo demands to leave nuck town due to the screw up giles made. Amusin thought that.

I thought it was a great draft for the Flames. Monahan is a beast, he'll be your captain one day. Everyone around here in MTL was pumped up about Poirier and wanted him a few picks later so that pick also looks good.

It's been one (fran)in day he's got all summer to do something. Also i'm not being optimistic, just realistic otpimism would be saying the oilers will make the playoffs next year and i don't believe i said that. I simply said MacT played it smart. THere is no need to draft a goalie dubnyk had decent numbers on a horrible team, give him D and he'll be much better and yes that legit D is named Darnell Nurse get used to it. THere is time, roam wasn't Frickin built in a day.
