Seems like a lot of fans are pissed with there teams today. I'm very happy with the nish pick, but I think the stars made some questionable picks after that. Our new jerseys look very nice btw. I'd say all in all today was pretty disappointing. Maybe nish will turn into ovie maybe radulov, but I think nurse is pretty solid pick for you guys.

Great draft picks on 1st round. Brutal return on Schneider...but maybe that's not Gillis' fault. You can only trade him for what's on the table.
- djamon

He rejected Calgary and Edmonton, since he was taxing them for in-division trade. I assure that he could of got more than a 9 if he agreed with either team.

Bad trade.

Clutterbuck, you may be right, although we didn't have a guy like Nino to trade.

Nino, ditto, where was our Clutterbuck to trade?

Bolland, I don't think you're correct. It's evident from this and the Frolik trade that Chicago was looking to clear 100% of Bolland's cap hit, so draft picks were all they were looking for. At the time they were finalizing the trade, we didn't have a 3rd and a 4th! We didn't really acquire those picks until Bolland was done. For all you know, MacT did that in an attempt to get Bolland. We don't exactly know. I do know at the time he was putting the miles in to get Coburn, for whom we're probably still the front runner. Between Bolland and Coburn, I know who I'd prefer on the Oil.

We've got dmen better than Sekera, but we don't have that many with his skillset. They wanted points. And proven point-scorers, not Corey Potter or Martin Marincin. Had we known he was available, Ryan Whitney for Mcbain and a 2nd at the deadline would be a treat. But we didn't have the assets today imo.

As I said earlier, there will be 200+ roster moves in the NHL between now and next season. Today we drafted some solid prospects, and the trades were essentially a drop in the bucket.

Nurse to me projects to be a Josh Gorges or Bieksa. So i agree with you Clouts that there were better options available...

lol, even the sad Canucks fans' comebacks are failing. Can't you guys do ANYTHING right anymore.

Also, Torts is completely the wrong guy to coach all of those little sissies. Canucks won't even make the post season next year. Every other team in the conference is improving considerably. Canucks...a total, ugly, messy, train wreck. They should change the logo to a crashing train.

They are one year from pulling a complete rebuild. Except, the Sedin squared and Lu contracts are much more daunting to deal with than say Iggy and Kip's.
Gonna be funny.

Funny...I never heard what either of those teams offered. I heard what the Canucks asked...but no one reported with any confidence what Gillis was offered.

Maybe you have info all the Insiders don't have?

There there, Richard. Nobody expects you to know anything or display any great understanding; it's just a release for you and a fun activity. You're just a fan who can't stop talking about his favourite team.

I didn't mean it as one. You just wrote the biggest slag-blog of your career is all. No need to be adversarial, we just happen to disagree about today.

Out of curiosity, what are your deals to beat Nino and Clutter?

wow, you're dreaming. I hope you are being sadly sarcastic because the Canucks are the laughing stock of the entire country right about now.

Seriously, the Canucks did pretty good. Bo Horvat and Hunter Shinkaruk in the 1st round. Hate is such a compliment, keep hating its an honor and I salute you my fellow Edmonton counterparts. Hockey is competitive and Canucks are the most hated team by other teams fans in the league, what an awesome status for a Canuck fan to know they get into your heads so much, its awesome. As for the Oilers, this was an awesome pick by them. Despite the belief out there that the Oilers are stacked on Defense, they arnt, they just have a bunch of puck movers that arnt NHL ready. They basically have no one like Nurse. Nurse is a stud defenseman. Oilers should persue local Jonny Boychuk aswell. There probably with the exception of Fistric has the softest D in the league. Great pick by MacT today.

I honestly do not mind ONE bit being harsh on Canucks fans either. It is such a head-scratcher that they are so cocky having had a slightly above average team for 3 or 4 years, not winning anything, and then completely blowing it up from within. It has really been fun to watch.

And by the way, there is no rivalry between Vancouver and ANYONE so they need to stop saying that. It's EDM vs. CGY. period. The Canucks are just annoying...correction...WERE annoying.

Canucks window is closed, see you in another 35 years.

I think the Canucks got great picks in Horvat and Shinkaruk. But the audacity of dealing Schneider without speaking to Luongo to see if he was cool to stay in Vancouver before making the deal was perhaps one of the biggest blunders in hockey history.

Clutterbuck and a pick for Niederreiter was also a horrifyingly bad deal, this time for the Wild. Clutterbuck is a 3rd line winger who can hit and do little else. Would have looked brill in Edmonton because we need someone who hits...But Niederreiter? Are you joking? You can't tell me the Oilers couldn't have beaten that deal to the Islanders.

I'm not 100% sure what side of this trade you're falling on. You say the Wild didn't do well, but then you say that Clutterbuck is a 3rd liner who hits and little else.

Are you saying you could have given Minny more or NYI? Or both?
