I don't know if it was a steal or not, that remains to be seen depending on if the Wild can properly develop him. But that being said, the Wild knew what they had and lost in Clutterbuck. He had an off season last year and likely was asking for more money than Fletch thought he was worth or willing to pay him based on what he brought to the Wild offense. Wild need goal scorers, Cal was not a goal scorer, although he brought a solid physical aspect to the Wild that they needed, even though his physical play was down a bit this season.

Personally after watching Clutterbuck over the course of his NHL career, even though he was a fan favorite here, I think he's slightly overrated in regards to his physical play his career stats withstanding. He just couldn't factor enough into the scoring aspect to warrant offering him a fat contract. It will be interesting to see what the Isles offer him.

I'm just wondering why NY gave up on Nino so fast given his prospect status. Either they thought he was high maintenance and not worth the trouble, or they really thought Clutterbuck was a good fit for their program and were willing to give up a top propsect that wasn't fitting well along with the no. 70 overall pick.(which they selected goalie Eamon McAdam with)

How did Mac T do a bad job? Im not even saying he did great but you are not seeing any positives. He was in on a lot of players that the Oilers could really use, which is probably why you're disappointed. Not plugs, not projects, but players we could use. Are you mad we didn't overpay? Would you have given Nurse, the five picks we got out of trading ONE 2nd round pick, AND a top prospect for Corey Schneider? Not me. Can you blame Mac T for not getting Coburn? He tried all day. He had Fucale targeted but what are you going to do when they take him one pick ahead?

At the same time, it's not over. You said yourself Hemsky wouldn't be dealt till mid July and I think they buyout Horcoff. Why say that tho? Who would trade for him when they know you'll buy him out? How can you say MacT has a bad day and falls on his face with he turns the #37 pick into #82, #88, #94, #96 and #113? Regardless of the round 5 to 1 is a nice deal.

The draft was fine. Loaded up on a lot of size with skill. Would I have liked to see us make a trade to move up? Yes. But if you noticed there was no one else that did either. Prices were ridiculous. As for the MacT hate? WTF are you guys on? He has been THE busiest GM in the past month. Juggling many deals.
Lets take a look:

As for drafting Nurse over Nich. I'm glad. Not sure if any of you caught the TSN projections when guys got drafted but they had an NHL ETA at the bottom of the screen. Outside of the top 4 none of them were projected to be in the NHL for 2-3 years. Nurse will be a stud. We need to keep stocking the prospect cupboards and let guys develop. Not hope for a rookie to come into the line up and fix our problems.

Coburn: Deal still may happen. It's not MacT holding it up. It's Philly. They are not sure they want to move him. But guys on here are talking like he's our savior. The majority of Philly fans are saying "take him".
