Thats the saving grace. And considering that most other goalies get moved for junk, a 9th overall is pretty nice.

Plus I am in love with the Shinkaruk pick. I went to like 2 or 3 Hats games this year when they rolled into town and I loved the way he managed to find a bit of extra space to work with. Much similar to the way Ebs always makes the smallest adjustment to give him a bit more time/space.

And hell, Luongo is still a terrific goaltender. Anyone who speaks to the contrary is a (frank)ing idiot. (frank) you, idiot.

Ive never bashed Lu in my life. He wasnt the moron that gave out that horrible contract. Just said that Schneider is overhyped, much like Fluery was and Bernier too.

I don't think we need any more bottom pair Dmen. 1 top pairing guy would make a huge difference and allow everyone to play a more comfortable role.

And where might we find one of those? I might be an optomist, but I think that J.Schultz, Petry,Nurse and Klefbom could all be successful top Pairing D eventually. If we do get a vet, I think he will be obsolete on this team in 2 years. I would like a stop gap tho

Fleury is horrific. The guy has hardly learned how to read a play better and is way too over aggressive. A few years ago he had his tendency to move too much toned down and he was terrific but now he's gone back to that and he's flopping like Roman Turek.

Bernier sucks. He is not good at goalie. At least not any better than Scrivens was. He's on the same level as Enroth but LA is a terrific defensive team. Probably the only team better defensively is St Louis.

And where might we find one of those? I might be an optomist, but I think that J.Schultz, Petry,Nurse and Klefbom could all be successful top Pairing D eventually. If we do get a vet, I think he will be obsolete on this team in 2 years. I would like a stop gap tho

Best case scenario is that you get 2 Alex Edler/Dan Hamhuis/Kevin Bieksa level guys out of that. Not exactly 2 number 1 dmen but 2 guys that belong on a top pairing and gel extremely well. Like pre-back injury Hammy and Bieksa

Fair enough. Finding the guy would cost quite a bit unless they want to take on Campbells contract. If the D doesn't improve from what is there right now, we will be looking at another high draft pick next year.

They did a pretty good job with it.

Know one has even really mentioned the fact Nurse comes from good stock almost every family member was a professional at there giving field. Which means the kid has what it takes, being drafted 7th overall 2nd D in one of the best drafts in years speaks volumes. We have three of the best forwards in the league but only one D, now we have two with nurse and I believe Belov will be way above expected KHL isn't as bad as most people think. Klefbom is another D that has a good chance if he is a quarter as good as Richards says he will be the next Duncan Keith. I think a lot of people are going to be happy with this team cause of Dubey this year he will shield the young D like he did last year but now he has another year experience. Remember we have a good team, even if we keep Horcoff he is a solid 3rd line C. Hemsky hurt 40 points not hurt more like 60. He said he'd do something at the draft and didn't really maybe that applies to the whole trade Horcoff Hemsky thing maybe he is lighting a fire under them as he does have history with them.

Campbell is not a #1 dman. He is hardly a top pairing guy. He's a specialist #3. Takes on secondary offensive competition, gets O-zone starts and runs your PP like a champ but you don't really want him out their, especially in the west, against the big top lines.

As I have said for about 2yrs now...

When Horcoff has no "C" on his sweater, this team will be fine. Even if he stays, it's okay, but Shawn Horcoff is NOT a leader. He is a hard worker, a great guy, but not at all what a young team needs for a captain.

I think this one relatively subtle change will change the whole team for the better. You just can't have your team captain be one of your worst players, there has to be a bit of fear, a bit of "awe" and one helluva lot of respect. That doesn't happen when Horcs can't cradle an NHL level tape to tape lazer from those kids. They don't respect him enough.

Those kids need the reincarnation of Messier...someone like that.

WHen Horcoff is not the captain, the team will be better.

There's a finesse in people's manner that gets developed with experience, and you learn that from being around it. I can live with Horcoff being captain for one more year if he can get back to the intensity he showed at the end of 2006
