They kept saying the Bruins where shopping Seguin and he has played the wing almost is whole NHL career I wonder what the price was? I to was also upset when the big fella fell right into our laps and we moved the pick for Schnieds but I have since calmed down even though I feel this was a position we could fix via trade or free agency ( might not of got quite the caliber of goalie but I would of been ok with that). I understand why Lou did it and we will benefit greatly from this move but man 2 years without a first round pick as it is now and we didn't address a serious forward need other then long shots I hope it works out for us |

Well the fact that I never really played any form of organized hockey might have more to do with it |

Getting Schneider was the safer bet, plus if the deal was really done Saturday night, Lou had no way of knowing Nichushkin would still be available...though honestly I'm not even sure if he would have taken him just knowing Lou.
You never know with that rep he's got. Could turn into the next Ovechkin, or the next Radulov. |

We didn't take any swedes. I think that should count for something. |

I was really looking forward to today, and I feel let down. I don't know anything about Schinder because I hate the nucks. I really just need to stop looking forward to things so I won't be let down. |

It's somewhat bittersweet, because thats a deal you should make 10/10 time but it doesn't help with the issue that we have and had the opportunity to help with with who was available |

We really are in need of forwards, especially if clarky leaves. |

It was a bit disappointing going into the draft and thinking what blue chip prospect we were gonna get and going through all the possibilities. But we got a goalie for the future when we really didn't have one for when Marty retired. As long as we can roll 4 lines next year I think we'll forget about the pick pretty quickly. |

It seems like Kujawinski and Bell have some good potential. With Kujawinski consistency seems to be the issue and with Bell it seems to be the off ice issues. Added some good size and physicality this draft and we now have some trading chips on D. |

Me too. Good thing all these guys got bought out because the other FAs might get less attention with the big money being thrown at Briere, Lecavalier, and so on |

When all is said and done, getting a great goalie for the future is far more valuable than getting one very good forward.
If Nichushkin ends up actually reaching his potential then maybe we'll look back at this negatively, but that's a big if, there might be a reason so many teams passed on him considering his apparent skill and upside.
Besides him, any other forward we could have taken at #9 could have possibly been a great top 6 forward, but finding a solid top 6 forward is easier than a franchise goalie.
Granted, Schneider still has to prove he can be a franchise goalie, but I think playing in our system and getting a year with Marty will only help. When all is said and done, a goalie like that is far more valuable to a team than 1 top 6 forward. |
