Urbom is basically a trade piece now. Santini replaces him as the top-4 shut down guy. |

Been thinking the same thing. And it works out fine. With Larsson, Merrill, gelinas, and the rest, were ok. There's only so many kids you can have on d at one time. Tons of d prospects, maybe we trade for a forward. I wanted Shinkaruk so bad
On Boucher, I meant if he was 18. Just saying he's a prospect that's a top goal scorer, so even tho we didn't draft one, we still have one that should be here probably in a year, unless he really surprises at camp. |

He's as small if not smaller than Tedenby though. Risky pick - bobert836
Fair enough other forwards though. Bailey was also there. Just would have liked to see a forward picked. |

Doesn't seem like a bad pick at 72. - smellmyfinger
Damn, wish we took Taylor Cammarata, guy looks like a phenom. Islanders took him. http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=118430
Look at those numbers. |

Ya, wish we took him too. Probably the best offensive guy in the draft and would be a top 10 if he was 4 or 5 inches taller. Went to Shattuck the same time Mackinnon did and put him to shame numbers wise |

Looks like another fairly safe pick. I like the D pick. Not sure how I feel about the third rounder. I'd like to see a chance or two taken on guys with more offensive potential I guess. |

assuming Clarkson leaves via free agency, hopefully lou can find some scoring in the free agent market? great move today getting a franchise goaltender, but its hard to win games 1-0 in the post lockout NHL. |

Pretty much sooner or later you have to figure someone is being moved. Between the vets we have on D and all these young players with fairly solid potential, something's bound to happen.
I wonder if the Devils would consider trading for Horton's rights. |

Holy crap I didnt notice they played in Shattuck together. Wow, he destroyed MAC, number wise. Damn it. The fact that the islanders got him, is making me more mad. This guy will be incredible. |

Schneider is the starting goalie, no doubt about that. Think he gets about 50-55 games at most and they give Marty the rest unless he struggles. Keep him fresh for the playoffs. |

Just got back from the Draft, fun time. I love the Schneider trade needed a goalie. Marty is 41 and he has struggled with injuries the past few years. |

Seriously though, Santini? I'm sure he's a fine player and all but seriously...?
Passing on Anthony Duclair in the 3rd round is a move they will regret. What the (frank) are we going to do with all of these defenders, Lou understands that only 6 can play per game, right? Maybe his idea is to swap out a different 6 every game. |

i know that, but i was thinking we could have gotten fucale by trading our 2nd+ for a late 1st rounder - dmarsden2988
Goalies take about 2 or 3 years to develop though, I don't know if they wanted to invest that kind of time. But still... WINGERS. We needs them. |

Let me revise that. We need promising wingers, not late round shots in the dark. When we took Ben Johnson and Ben Thompson in the 3rd and 4th last year, I was optimistic. Neither of them are looking all that promising. I don't have high hopes for a lot of the guys past the 2nd round. Not ruling them out of course, but the odds are against them.
Edit: Please don't show me lists of late round picks and feel good stories like Zetterberg and Datsyuk and all them. I know they are out there, I just don't think it is likely to happen. |

The whole draft is a shot in the dark. Don't think that just because you draft in the first round you've got a blue chip. |

For sure. All I'm saying is that statistically, the odds are against late round picks of making a career in the NHL. |

Lou said that we are going to need to add offense through free agency. Definitely think he will be active. |
