LOL... yes he does!

Did he win the $10B lottery while I wasn't paying attention? Because that's what you need to compete in pro sports- you need to be able to throw money out the window like confetti, if the right player comes along. Not his fault, I understand, but it is what it is....

EDIT: note I said the RIGHT PLAYER.....not anyone who randomly skates past the building, as is the case in Philadelphia....

Agreed- but we also need someone to stand between the pipes who is older than 23, for example....that, too...

i dont think they really need a young goalie...id prefer a more experienced goalie over a young one..

The man is a Billionaire, he can sign anyone to the richest contract in the game, but as long as he is losing money no matter how many sell outs NVMC has... he's going to save his pennies & who the hell could blame him?

But there are owners with less worth then Wang owning sports teams, they are just able to make a return on their product.

I'd have believed this ten years ago. Not now. It's quickly becoming clash of the mega titans. True, in a place where you have license to print money, like the Leafs, or the Yankees, it's EASIER, but it still helps to have the cash to build the brand up front.

I'm not blaming him for doing what he's doing- I have always been one to defend him on the building issue, for example. I'm just saying that the guy in Brooklyn who owns the Nets wouldn't be doing it this way- he'd buy them out of the lease, and immediately begin buying items off the rack. There's a difference between rich, wealthy, and stupid wealthy. Wang is at the second level- the Russian guy in Brooklyn is at the top.

Ohh come on... you think that's really true? GM's don't like snow because he circumvented the cap?? Seriously?? He's the only person to ever find loopholes in the CBA?? Lou Lamorillo has been fined for trying to really circumvent the cap and no GM's have stopped playing catch with him. ohh and Lou isnt the only one.

no just that he is not liked around the NHL since his playing days. The cap thing I know all GMs find a way but I am talking about the other stuff there. Whatever. for once I was happy with GArth yesterday as I for one liked the trade and the pick. I want to see what he does come free agency and our goaltending situation

Yeah, that's what I'm saying- it'd be different if one of 23 year old goalies had already proven himself at this level.

Whether other GM's Like Garth or not is really a foolish discussion. You think any of the other GM's are loving that jackwagon in Philly? I am sure he made lots of points when he signed Webber to that tremendously front loaded contract to try and screw Nashville in the process. My point is ... it isn't a popularity contest and no one gave a sht about Garth doing that TT trade. It was done in case someone offered him a big trade for one of his impending UFA's (Vis, Streit, Nabby). If someone offered him a first round pick or something he found enticing enough it allowed him to move them without falling under the cap cellar.... And it helped Boston get under cap ceiling in process... without costing a dime. Why would anyone give a sht about this? And if they did.. sour grapes.. who cares? GM is not a popularity contest. You are all trying to out do your fellow GM's. They should hate him b/c he stole guys via waiver wire (nabby, moulson, Grabner, Strait, Hickey, etc.)... I hope Nino stinks and Minn hates him forever.

I think Garth better hurry and resign Nabby, Scuderi for sure woould be a great addition but I wonder if we could get Edler from the Nucks? Horton , Weiss would also be good imports but I really don't feel Garth made the team any more attractive yesterday and we know that has been one of our issues for years....but as someone said Horton on JT's wing should be enough....he would likely have a record season with the Isles.

would Clowe be a good fit or does Clutterbuck fill that role?

this^^

listen, we all were under the impression (perhaps overhyping our own player; wouldnt be the first time) that nino was going to get us a nice return. at the end of the day, the team IS better today then they were yesterday because of this deal.

some people are saying Clutterbuck is going on the first line, i dont see it, but if its true, could that mean that moulson is being dangled? a line of MM-JT-CC is NOT 1st line material and puts more pressure on JT.

i could see them putting him on the 2nd line and having a CC-STROME-GRABNER line, pushing the neilsen line to the 3rd and then having Martin-Cizikas-Macdonald. then going out and picking up a top line winger for JT.

end of the day, the team is better, and well see what garths next move is...hopefully Defense!!

I don't follow how playing on Long Island will give him the ability to not move his family any more then any other place? Its not like he can commute.

I think that out of the teams harboring around the Philly area NJ, NYI, NYR, WAS, Buff, Bos, he'd prefer the Isles.....

maybe more ice time here, can be productive still, idk, other factors are possible
maybe Briere might retire in a few yrs and not worth moving the whole family after being comfortable in Philly for quite some time...

but hey, wouldn't mind him here, especially if he can stay healthy...bonus

I am hoping too. I really like Clutterbuck and think he is going to really help us. Especially when guys take a run at JT you know someone is going to have to answer to him. Takes some pressure off of MArtin and maybe we see MArtin on the power play a lot more this year

i really wanted clowe at the deadline but i think at this point, clutterbuck, martin, boulton are all guys that can throw down when necessary...although at the right price, i wouldnt mind clowe with JT, trade Moulson (sign or trade for a top line 1st IE ryan/horton), Clutterbuck on 2nd with Strome, and Matt Martin on 4th...

talk about protection...

like the kid that was selected by Phoenix? Man his agent was PISSED!!!
But bring on the non-believers, nobody can tell me what I did or didn't see and hear.

- 1since40

Yea that was comical.....

don't know if it was the Yotes 1st rd pick or 2nd, but the kid and agent were pissed that Yotes to him..
The kid says" what the heck is in Phoenix " agent replies " nice weather " kid just shook his head.
they both went outside to cool down....shat was funny...

then your brother throws in triple digit weather..

kid should be lucky that he even got drafted.

Coming off two concussions. Not a very safe acquisition at this point.

TRIBLIVE.COM: Rob Rossi reports the Penguins and Pascal Dupuis, despite their mutual desire to reach agreement on a new deal, haven’t moved closer toward one. Talks with Matt Cooke haven’t broken off, but it’s believed the club can’t afford both.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I don’t see how the Penguins can re-sign Dupuis when they’re about to sign Kris Letang to an expensive eight-year extension…
