I have been saying this about Snow for years, No one listens. No one likes him around the league and that is why he should not be a GM
- kasperrko

If that's even remotely true, who gives a f**k? If they "don't like him" it's because he drives hard bargains and doesn't lie down and get fleeced by the other GM's in trades. It's not because Snow traded for Tim Thomas. If anything, the other GM's probably respect Snow more for having to work under Wang.

It's not a popularity contest. It's a business. No GM is going to refuse to deal with Snow if making a trade with te Isles is in that GM's teams' best interests.

Someone did scoff at the idea when u and I were discussing the possibility of him. I'm happy w the pick too but would've liked zadarov as well.
- Cptmjl

Snow seems to like offensive defensemen- this guy supposedly ALREADY has a serious bomb from the point, and he's still a boy. I was disappointed as well, especially since Zadorov fell to our spot, but I get the reasoning. Plus they get paid to scout, not me, so I have to go with it until we see him play.

Yeah, I know he was kidding but I'm not. Sorry, but we can't trade him to Winnipeg for nothing because he "wants" to play there. It sucks, and I feel bad for him as a person, but this is the profession he has chosen. Most of us wouldn't even remotely have that option- at least he conceivably "could" be traded to Winnipeg.

was it hard getting through security to kick garth in his ever widening a$$?

I think that's a BS smokescreen....no one likes Garth, and that's why we can't get anyone here.....no one is going to play here for free.....that's the REAL problem....

I've not seen or read anything negative about Pulock. I love the pick. Snow couldn't have nailed 15 overall any better. I think the differences in any of the guys that fell to the isles at 15 are negligible at best. Deep draft. All the guys were mentioning are great prospects. I just love Pulock's offensive upside in addition to his size and defensive game.

I would be a better option than Boyes. I can't play hockey worth sh*t anymore (I'm old and stuff- not that I was any good in the first place ), but at least I would have a "battle level" above, say...... zero.......

Exactly they didn't need another bruiser. They already have Mayfield Pedan etc etc they needed another scoring threat from the back end

That's the thing....once you get into that area...you have to try really hard not to draft Ryan O'Marra and Robert Nilsson, simply because your idea of "scouting" is reading THN. I'd guess this group is a little more advanced than that.

While I'm on the fence about the trade I absolutely love the fact that clutterbuck is an Islander!!! Him and Martin or going to destroy people. I've wanted this guy for the last couple of years. I can't see snow being done yet. Gonna wait for buyouts and free agency to start before he gets his goalieand top winger I would hope

agreed... this is hockey, not the ballet, if garth got in a fight 10-15 years ago, i cant imagine ppl still hold a grudge about that...give it a rest with the excuses.

The only negative I heard on XM was the usual "skating" deal- not that Zadorov was rated any better in that area. You can't teach Grabner speed, but "skating" CAN be fixed, if the player is willing to try.

True enough, and I'm thinking with teams in cap trouble there will be a fair deal of waiver wire pick ups available for sure. One area Garth is active and does well in.

this^^

listen, we all were under the impression (perhaps overhyping our own player; wouldnt be the first time) that nino was going to get us a nice return. at the end of the day, the team IS better today then they were yesterday because of this deal.

some people are saying Clutterbuck is going on the first line, i dont see it, but if its true, could that mean that moulson is being dangled? a line of MM-JT-CC is NOT 1st line material and puts more pressure on JT.

i could see them putting him on the 2nd line and having a CC-STROME-GRABNER line, pushing the neilsen line to the 3rd and then having Martin-Cizikas-Macdonald. then going out and picking up a top line winger for JT.

end of the day, the team is better, and well see what garths next move is...hopefully Defense!!

Ohh come on... you think that's really true? GM's don't like snow because he circumvented the cap?? Seriously?? He's the only person to ever find loopholes in the CBA?? Lou Lamorillo has been fined for trying to really circumvent the cap and no GM's have stopped playing catch with him. ohh and Lou isnt the only one.

From ESPN

New York Islanders: B-
Ryan Pulock brings an absolute cannon of a shot from the point and in time will be a PP weapon. He is very strong on the puck for a 6-1 defenseman, and while his season was average, he had to deal with injuries that impeded his overall development. Having said that, I believe in the player highly and think he plays for sure. I just wonder how the Isles pick seven blueliners in 2012 then draft another one in 2013. Eamon McAdam in the third round is good value and I see a lot of upside in his ability to become an NHL goaltender. Of all the tenders in this draft, he handles the puck better than any other and brings size and athletic ability to the organization.

Agreed- but we also need someone to stand between the pipes who is older than 23, for example....that, too...

We have NO money....the ONLY difference between us and New Jersey is that in our case it's by choice, as opposed to a spendthrift idiot pi$$ing away his fortune. Wang is trying not to do that- the bottom line, put simply, is that Charles Wang does not have ENOUGH money to own a major professional sports franchise. He is a billionaire, but not by much. It's at the point in pro sports where you have to be a MULTI-billionaire in order to compete, because of the stupidity of the Ed Sniders of the world. It is what it is, and I'm sure that when Charles hears the number he wants in exchange for his team, he will move on.

Also would like to mention, few have said that Briere would likely prefer the Isles if negotiations went well over competing teams....and that he doesn't want to move his family, "which we all have heard"

would be a better option than Boyes...

- Ur Not Me

I don't follow how playing on Long Island will give him the ability to not move his family any more then any other place? Its not like he can commute.
