Toronto didn't have to give up Morgan Rielly or even Joe Colborne for their acquired third-line player

Excellent point UIF. I like getting Clutterbuck just not crazy about giving up Nino for him. Especially if it's a Nino motivated to show the Isles made a mistake.

Disappointing. Isles always do nothing/strike out in free agency. This is/was supposed to be the time to use some of that young talent to make this team better for next year.

Very weak.

- Mancalledsting

Isles may be banking some teams will look to dump players in cap moves right before/ during free agency.
Should look at STL. They want to unload a Goalie and Pietrangelo may want a lot more then they want to give.

Why would they??

Bolland wasn't as sought after as Clutterbuck.

Plus... Rielly and Colborne are happy with their spot with the Toronto organization.

Nino was a whiny little baby.

it's not an IF, Nino won't benefit in Minnesota's system. It's a total mismatch of Nino's style and Minni's... He'll be moved within 3 years.

Very true. It makes it tough Nino was 5th overall. We will have to let this play out and hope for the best.

if I was put on a line with Reasoner I'd be pissed too. Isles (frank)ed him up from the get go and only have themselves to blame.

Isles botched both Bertuzzi and Nino. They have to learn from these mistakes. If they feel these top guys are ready, make sure they are put with quality players. If there is any doubt they are ready, please leave them down.

Yeah, but it would have been good to see what he could do for a full season with some talent on his line...that's the only real downside at the moment. Had a feeling he was being "punished" by keeping him in B'port for the whole season. If he pans out for Minny and becomes a Top3 forward, then you put your hindsight glasses on and shoulda/coulda/woulda . Personally never "felt" Nino was a player we would all "like" unless he was putting up silly numbers. Sometimes pure talent doesn't win the race. Plus anything that puts fear into the minds of your opponent is always a good thing. Too many guys getting the better of JT and we can't let that continue.

Checked out Wild site tv interview with GM Fletcher. Essentially concerned with cap and Clutterbuck is RFA with 1.4M compensation and said they had a lot of good offers. Check it out.

True... I don't hate Nino.

I love Clutterbuck..... was Nino for Clutterbuck and a third a good deal.

Not what I was expecting... but we have to live with it now.

Isles fans will love Clutterbuck.

Clutterbuck, Martin, Cizikas!!!

Should be fun to watch.

Look how Boston beat Pittsburgh... bang and crash!!!

Still have higher expectations for Bailey and KO.

Kyle has at least one more notch to improve and has to continue to be more physical. Not a fighter but not a passenger out there.

I feel Bailey's potential even higher. Hope to see more out of them both before they become UFAs.

Strome will not disappoint, when he's ready. Also think Nelson will develop and surprise others who don't know about him. Think last preseason(or preseason before) they commented on how he was very competitive and physical with Nino in camp. Wait till he grows a little more...

Okposo's value is peaking right now, especially after that playoff performance. Use him in a trade to land some top line talent.

Sort of unexcited by todays events. Downgraded immediate talent imo

All's quiet..

How did we downgrade immediate talent when we traded a prospect for an NHL player? That is an upgrade.

Granted I think Nino will be a great NHL player.. he isnt right now.

I'm very high on Strome and Nelson. Hope for continued good things from KO and Bailey. If the Isles can fill some holes this offseason, all will be well. Right now fans will be nervous. I can understand both sides of the Nino trade.
