was it you or gchonda who was calling for us to draft gauthier?
kind of disappointed that we left shinkaruk, erne, zykov and compher, hell even fucale - matt1337
Definitely not me, I said so long as we DON'T pick Gauthier. I was hoping for Shinkaruk or Hartman.
After doing some reading on Gauthier he seems to deserve some credit. Having 60 points in 62 games and being named the best defensive forward in the draft by people who know more about hockey than I do. I just can't shake the feeling that players like Gauthier, Morin, Zadorov, etc., are only successful because they're playing against 16 year olds. I'm not convinced success based on size will translate into the NHL. Let's just hope Dave Morrison knows more about prospects than I do. |

Hello fellow Leafs Fans, just wanted to drop by here and say that I hate you guys for snagging Gauthier earlier today. He was the guy I wanted for the Habs.
I actually had y'all picking him in my mock draft, I knew you guys couldn't let him slip through, the leafs actually have good scouts.
He's a very smart player, probably the best defensive forward in the draft, and he has lots of room to grow offensively. He started the year on a tear and could very-well have ended with more points than Zykov as the best rookie if he didn't get injured by receiving a slapper on the jaw by trying to block a shot. He had to eat through a straw for a week after that, and had trouble coming back in the same form as before the injury.
He had average playoffs, but was awesome at the U-18 in sotchi, especially in the final where he was the best canadian forward. - QuebecPride

Can't pronounce to save his life, but he's a smart kid. Was comitted to Harvard, but he got convinced to go play in Rimouski by Crosby and Lecavalier. |

Looks good to me. But how do we upgrade our most pressing need? Defense!!! Goaltending is set. We need a top 4 d-man. |

Well if he's in with Vinny then we can be sure that Lecavalier is going to be a Leaf! Thanks for the good news. We can trade Grabovski back to the HABS now.

I'm sure he's a smart kid, and there's nothing I can do about this pick. I really hope Gauthier becomes an excellent centre. I said before the draft I wasn't holding my breath for a superstar to slip to 21 like Giroux, I just wanted the Leafs to pick someone who will be a serviceable NHLer. I just have my doubts about him, and I hope he makes me look stupid and you guys can remind me of it in a few years. |

Maybe we can grab Ference, but I don't think so. He's going to get an over-paid contract somewhere. |

Yep, added in some guys to the roster by moving picks and prospects, yet also added to the prospect pile with a solid first rounder
Now to rock some UFA action without getting too stupid
Leafs could be solid playoff contenders again, it will be a fun team to watch |
