It just seems like Nonis is spending his assets on additions we don't exactly need. He should be focusing on acquiring a 2nd line RW,a top pairing Dman, and a new center for our top line, instead he brought in a goaltender, and a 3rd line centerman...confusing to say the least - ThePresident
I think he has a better plan in place and he might be working on bringing someone for the top line..Maybe making those few acquisitions means he has more to throw at a potential blockbuster |

Haha, earlier I saw a Canucks fan post that Schneider was going to be worth Strome + 15.

you guys are missing the point. I talking about the goalie market. I'm not suggesting Scrivens is an all star, or any of that I'm saying based on what I saw today, Nonis overpaid in the current market, if this isn't Lewieke's trade anyway. - aminnes
I think it might be premature to say overpayment. Give Bernier a year to show what he can' do with the Leafs. |

He needs to be more of a pro.

#1 no he didn't.
#2 this wan't Lewieke since they said that they've been working on that deal since the start of the year and Lewieke has been here a month. |

They also laughed at the thought of a first+Kadri for Luongo last summer. |

I felt the same and somewhat still do but time will tell. On the other hand, I like the fact we have someone who can play as good as Reimer so we won't have to worry when one of them goes down. |

Anyone who thinks the Leafs overpaid is overvaluing the guys we sent to LA. That being said, no way does Frattin suck. Is he replaceable? Absolutely. Doesn't mean he's not a good player. On the other hand Scrivens is absolute crap. - coolehmon41
LA isn't about to put crap in net 15 times a year. Frattin is only going to improve, and is a good young player, but on the Leafs was a definite flip-able asset when considering their current top 6, even 9, and the liklihood of Clarkson. |

Maybe he's got other plans for those holes?? maybe UFA's?? - burn
I don't know, I guess it's possible, but just seems unrealistic to make like 5 drastic moves in one offseason. Could be done, but I'm usually used to the Leafs making 3 mediocre moves and that's it....but new GM, perhaps he'll want to put his stamp on the team. |

Yeah Rome wasn't built in a day.You get the players you need when you can. I'm sure he'll try to bring in a couple of UFA's. |

I don't think a #9 pick is too bad. Goalies do not have a lot of value. Most teams have their #1 goalie. The issue is more that Vancouver is an aging team in "Win Now" mode and that #9 pick does notging to make them better next season, and losing Schneider makes them worse.
And Bernier was had for less than most thought BTW. Most in the media thought he'd fetch a first rounder. - RogerRoeper
Agreed. All reports seem to say that LA wanted nothing less than a 1st for Bernier. So the Leafs did well. They gave up a backup & an inconsistent 3rd liner. Those Leaf fans who complain that we gave up too much, would have ya all been happy if we traded a 1st for Bernier? No thanx. |

So you believe them when they say that, but not when they say they were looking for a vet backup? How do you determine when they are speaking the truth or not? |

That is correct and to be honest, regardless of how we feel, there's no way LA gives up Bernier for Frattin and 2nd rounder, they needed a backup too so it kinda workout the way it should. I think we come out on top for this trade. Not guessing I am saying we won this trade! |

On t.v it said that the oilers table was in disbelief when the trade was announced because they offered their 1st, a 2nd and a high prospect |

Can't do everything at once.
We did well last year without a #1 C, if we don't add one is it really that big a deal?? IMO Kadri (assuming he's close to what was last year, remotely close) and Grabo and Bolland is better than Bozak and KAdri and Grabo. Had too many parts out of position |

Jokes aside, I think he has something coming up that we don't about and he'll shock us all. I hope it's a 1C and 1st pair Dman! |

Unnecessary trade. Flip those for D help. I'de have just as soon waited to see what those guys are. And just because LA wanted a first, clearly, no one would have paid that. Again, to me, the Schnieder trade means Bernier should have went for less, for sure no added 2nd rounder. It's not the end of the world, but... |

True, but if we could sign Lecavalier, Iginla, and trade for Yandle, I'd be one happy guy. |

Would be nice, just hard to imagine that happening. It seems like seguin is going to cost an arm and a leg. Pretty much everyone was wrong about the price for schneider though. |
