You are right - just ask Ian White.

Hey Rick, what if Babcock and his assistants actually tried to coach a guy with world class speed before they just jerk him around. Speed like that isn't common and can make a difference. If Stahlberg is receptive to the direction the coaches give him if he does wind up in Detroit, I think there is a good chance you will see a much more useful and productive player. Should be interesting to watch going down the road.

They are the easiest club to market NOW. Before his arrival they were a moribund franchise who had issues with attendance and no one wanted to actually play there.

Let's face it too, Dallas Green had a bit to do with that. Winning cures a lot of ills.

you cannot really argue about mcd's abilities to promote a winning franchise and behave like a big market team but you also can't really argue that the success of the team on ice is the result of the drafted core players, not Pat Foley.........mcd had virtually nothing to do with the on ice product and, note, that we are an attractive destination for ufa's because of that on ice success........when we were awful, we had to dramatically overpay free agents to get them here

Sam Gagne tweeted the other day during the parade something along the lines of "How can you not be impressed with what you're seeing". Note: The 2 mil plus fans in attendance, the red jerseies all over the place, the video montage etc. That's what Gagne was talking about.

Losing to the crappy padres was a real heartbreaker, and inexcusable.

All the video I've seen of Sasha Barkov make him look huge. And his skating seems good too. With the Finnish hockey smarts to go with it? He'd be a great pick after the big 3 names..

I am saying it may be BEFORE a "big three" name...

Dude have to disagree...

Put the home games on tv 40 years after every other team already has.
Bring back pat foley.
Market the crap out of the team.
Bring in a bunch of young guns and ramp up the Hawks website.
Tell the players they have to do all kind of signings and guest appearances get them involved like heck in the community.
Go to the old guard and ask them to come back now that Wirtz had finally passed.

The team was already ready to win - McD had nothing to do with it. I give you the Cubs Convention and the Hawks convention no question a masterstroke by McD.

...by the way what have the Cubs won? Nada.

Agree with a lot of what you say, plus his success at Wrigley had a lot to do with Harry Carey and the neighborhood nite-life atmosphere surrounding the ball-park, but he and his marketing teams at both teams had the ability to build on that for corporate sponsorships and other things that we don't necessarily consider.

The salary cap is NOT the only thing we have to consider. We have to consider how good our team is going to be. I know the Hawks with a young core in their prime would love to repeat.

Moving Hammer is a serious blow to that.

We do NOT HAVE to move Hammer. We already have Bolland on the move who is gaining interest and Bickell may not even return. We could also find a way to shed Brookbank, who is only 1.3 less than Hammer.

Hammer is an absolute bargain right now.

Yes, I know you'd love to pair him with Erik Karlsson and go for the gold, but not happening.

- kwolf68
You are reading me wrong ,i dont care if he gets moved or not to ottawa .We are not anywhere close to being a cup contender with or without hammer.

I was only trying to spark a logical conversation about what is next for Chicago.

That area was not remotely close to the "neighborhood nite-life atmosphere" when McD showed up.

Harry Caray was part of the atmosphere that McD created at Wrigley.

I'd be happy just borrowing what's on the hood for 3 or 4 hours.

Their going to have to start counting the 40 and over men's leagues to fill out the rest of their roster.
