If the Flyers have a deal they like, I hope they just pull the trigger before the madness happens and the market shifts. I do appreciate the apprehension though of over shooting what the cost would be in any deal

It was asked if Edler on market decreases Cobys value. Letang resigning will just increase it. Edler may be priced off the market as Coby will be cheaper. I would think lots of suitors.

Today, I won't be complaining about the overvaluation of NHL defensemen.

He has made more than two good trades. He was able to trade zhitnik for Coburn, got briere here in his prime, kimmo, harsty, pronger ( who unfortunately had a career ending injury). Granted lately he has sung and missed, but overall a solid c+,b- job. Not saying he is the best but not the worst either. No free passes, make this team better or start packing. He really is a middle of the road gm IMO.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Coburn trade - very good trade. Give him that one.
2. Briere signing - good signing, but likely overpaid tho in contract terms. Drury got 5/35 and Briere 8/52). Thank God for buyouts!!
3. Kimmo/Hartsy - Gave away a first round pick and then overpaid in length/years anyway.
4. Pronger trade - Hated it then and now. Too much for a 34 yo player, then had no choice but to give him that albatross of a contract to justify the trade. It was highly statistically improbable that Pronger would have played that contract out.

But I agree with your conclusion. Mediocre GM. Yes, he has some young talent now but what matters most is what he does now.

What do you guys think of David Boreanaz being a hardcore Flyers fan and tweeting about them all the time? I think it's really kinda cool.

I'm starting to think we aren't going to see any moves until the draft starts.
