What's better than a 37 goal-scoring power forward? The age is a factor, but Hartnell is still one of the top PWFs in the league.

Yep, the Pens need to get their overall team game in better shape.
- MJL

Which is why if I were Pitt I would trade Malkin and his gigantic cap to a team to build amazing depth. If they could get an awesome bottom 6 and a 2nd line center then they're in much better shape.

Hartnell averages around 22-25 goals a year.

He's hit that career high of 37 goals once.

Nice power forward but they tend to break down faster.

My only issue is Pittsburgh was suppose to have some really young skilled defenseman. Not sure why they spend that kind of money on Letang. Probably couldn't get a fair deal from other teams?
- stveshdy

It's not really a lot of money for a top defenseman. In fact it's cheap. Letang could've commanded significantly more on the open market. They have Depres who is said to have a bright future.

I cant help think that his line mates helped alot in 37 goal year

Why? imagine if he was on a line with the Sedins. It'd be scary. I'm not saying Hartnell by himself gets you Edler. But Hartnell could easily be the main part of a package for Edler.

It is tremendous to see Pronger at Newark today, really looking forward to seeing him on the podium hopefully. If the Nurse chatter is correct, if they do move Coburn, gotta believe Nurse will make the NHL roster. Everything I have read suggests he is physically ready. Depending on what you read, the long-term projections of Jones and Nurse are very close.

Giroux and Voracek are pretty good linemates to play with.

That type of money is an elite/franchise type defenseman.

I look at Chara, Weber, Keith, Seabrook, etc.

I like Letang but I don't think he's on that level. Very good offensive defenseman who can skate the puck out but his defense isn't great.

If Hartsy is motivated I have to believe he can touch near that number again. Last year was an off year, I'm hoping it lit a fire under his jock strap.

We wouldn't pick Nurse at #5. He's only ever gonna be a top-4 defenseman so trading a top 4 defenseman plus your pick to get him doesn't make sense.
