He was strongly trending up -- doubt the Flyers and Habs were the only ones who had him ranked above Zadorov/Pulock/Morrissey.

As for the vid, the way he was playing and the #5 on his back just conjured up images of Braydon Coburn.

I actually had to restart the video about thirty second in, I didn't know who I was supposed to be watching

As long as Morin has some wheels, he could work out ok. I think people's worst fears are he is a pylon on the ice and guys will go right around him The consensus is that won't be the case. If he's mobile, that's a start. You can't teach size. He's only 18, plenty of time for him to improve the other aspects of his game.

The fact Button likes him is a good sign. His opinion is pretty well respected.

His mobility is there. That won't go away. His poke check and stick work look to be advanced as well

I agree. Give him more money if we can get him down to a limited ntc
- Just5

He'll get the Homer Special:

6-8 years, 7.5 / year, Full NT/NMC

with a one year window to get "Cartered" as Bob McKenzie so articulately tweeted yesterday.

I doubt that he takes a limited NTC. If I were Giroux, I would take a little less for a full NMC. I wouldn't trust the Flyers one bit after seeing them send away Carter, Richards and JVR. Briere would have been traded too had he not gotten injured.

The "Cartering" can no longer happen with the new CBA. they specifically put in a clause that NMC begin when the contract is SIGNED and not when it begins.

That's not a bad deal, especially considering cap space isn't pressing concern for them. I think the real danger would've been giving him a long term deal, only to find out he was a flash in the pan.

I'm happy with Morin at 11. I wanted him or Zadorov. I'm curious what the Flyers found in Morin that ultimately let them to choose him over Zadorov. (I would have wondered the same if they chose Zadorov). I wonder if they felt Morin had the higher upside.

Bobrovsky gets 2 years, $5mm per from CBJ
- Jsaquella

Time will tell if he can handle the weight in a full season and still be vezina worthy.. Let alone in playoffs

That's the other thing about goalies, everyone loves Bernier and Schneider, but here's a tidbit:

Bobrovsky has more NHL games and starts under his belt than both Schneider and Bernier. Despite the pedigree they both have, neither has been a full time starter in the NHL.

I think its tough to tell either way, but the way Morin climbed the rankings, I think people would say he has the higher upside. If Morin puts it all together, he could be a hell of a player.

That's another factor. Actually, James Reimer has a better career save % than Bernier does.

I know. Does anyone know why Hagg dropped? Was it because he's a long term prospect?

I'm still a little perplexed at the Bernier trade. Not a clear cut upgrade over Reimer, why spend the trade assets?

He's been wildly inconsistent.
