Typical negative media guy. Must have an axe to grind.
- PLindbergh31

I don't really take too much of what Wyshynski writes very seriously and I don't think anyone should.

And FWIW, Greg Wyshynski is a Devils fan.

That's the impression I got, from my four minutes of video research.

Ok, fine, three minutes and fifty second.

He certainly looks like an NHL player from that U18 vid... people are assuming that Homer's having his Dylan McIlrath moment here, but the difference is that Morin can actually play in addition to being feared.

THE DRAFT WAS AWESOME. I met CHRIS PRONGER and PK SUBBAN after sneaking down to where the prospects were sitting. In fact, PK was sitting RIGHT BEHIND US. Got a picture with Subban and an autograph from Prongs.

PK Subban is a cocky, arrogant SOB. There's no way he would have been pleasant to a cracker such as yourself.

He was a great value pick. Saw him rated as high as 20 in some mocks.

I just tend to be wary about overly big players.. Especially when their bread and butter is the defensive game.

Im more and more ok with the pick..

Well, hyperbole is in this year. I won't say it's unreasonable to call the pick a reach, but it kind of reminds me of the Laughton pick last year: The Flyers identified the player they felt had the best upside and took him, even if pretty much everybody else (except maybe the Habs) saw it differently.

Anyways, I came away from that video with the same impression. He wasn't just throwing bone crunching hits for the sake of it, he seemed to be pretty good at separating players from the puck, either through stick work or by using his body. His skating and his shot didn't look bad, either.

More bothered by Carchidi's latest gem, where he says the Flyers shouldn't sign Giroux to a long term deal because of Pronger, Bryz and Frick and Frack

So the Flyers in the first three rounds drafted Hal Gill, Kim Johnson, and Zac Rinaldo? Very cool.

Many games last season Zac was my favorite Flyer.
Love his heart and motor.

At first I was disappointed with Morin at #11. There were rumours of our interest in him, I just didn't think we'd pass on both Pulock and Zadorov to grab him. Hearing Montreal wanted to trade up for him, it wasn't just blind obsession with drafting a hulking project d-man. With Pulock to the Isles and Zadorov to the Sabres, we'll see in 5 years if we picked the right guy.

Hagg in the 2nd round I loved. Projected to be in the 20s in the 1st round, he has a lot of potential. Good size and mobility, and is Swede. I'm not sure NHL comparables, but possibly compare him to Alex Edler?

Speaking of Edler. If we do win out the Vinny bidding, he is our #2 centre no doubt. Depending on what we do in regards to guys like Coburn and Read, I could see BSchenn going to Vancouver in a deal for Edler. Maybe we flip Read and Coburn to Anaheim for Ryan, BSchenn to Vancouver for Edler, and let a kid or two fill out the bottom lines? Just random thoughts, no validation behind any of this.

Ryan-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Talbot
McGinn-Laughton-Rinaldo
Rosehill

Timonen-Schenn
Edler-Streit
Grossmann-Gustafsson

Homer did say he wants to get bigger up front, likely to mimic the Bruins. Lean on teams, grind them, wear them down. Ryan, Voracek, Hartnell, Simmonds, Vinny with Giroux up front certainly addresses that. Edler and Streit upgrade the defense, and can help us going forward when Kimmo retires.

Actually, McKeen's had Morin at 10. Not sure how I missed that, because I usually lean on them as much as any source. But he's not Derian Hatcher in any way.

Didn't know he was a Devils fan. That being the case it must be taken with a grain of salt.

Giroux for 8 years is a no brainier to me.
Just maybe leave out the NMC.
Circumstances can change.

I'm going on a limb and predicting Thomas Greiss signing during FA.

He was strongly trending up -- doubt the Flyers and Habs were the only ones who had him ranked above Zadorov/Pulock/Morrissey.

As for the vid, the way he was playing and the #5 on his back just conjured up images of Braydon Coburn.

I was actually looking at him and Khudobin last night wouldnt mind have either one. Both have limited playing experience but have played well when given the chance.

As long as Morin has some wheels, he could work out ok. I think people's worst fears are he is a pylon on the ice and guys will go right around him The consensus is that won't be the case. If he's mobile, that's a start. You can't teach size. He's only 18, plenty of time for him to improve the other aspects of his game.

The fact Button likes him is a good sign. His opinion is pretty well respected.

That's not a bad deal, especially considering cap space isn't pressing concern for them. I think the real danger would've been giving him a long term deal, only to find out he was a flash in the pan.
