I wonder if this Luongo deal will cost Gillis or Gilman their job. One of them is more of the contract specialist...
- 1970vintage

I don't think it should, that deal was signed a long time ago. IMO the lowering of the salary cap next year is garbage, and a few teams are getting punished for it.

The Irony is that many teams that were willing to play a full season are now paying for the loss in revenue of a shortened season in the form of a set lower cap for next year.

Never trade Schneider within the division unless it's a serious overpayment, which that isn't at all.
- LeftCoaster

I still can't believe Gillis is looking at trading Schneider. Unless the return is off the charts, this is going to be a huge @#$@# mistake.

Really don't think people understand why we don't take BC boys in the first round. Think of how much pressure that would put an 18-year old having to play for his hometown team with how rabid THIS fanbase is...
- DariusKnight

That's a fair point, although it can be said that there is always going to be expectations and pressure, especially in hockey mad markets. Gallagher played lights out, despite playing in one of the most pressure filled markets in the NHL; Lucic has also thrived in Boston, which is another tough market to play in. I think it all depends on the individual and their mental make-up, and I feel that can be determined through due diligence in the initial interview/assessment process.

If the return is good I think it's the only move. However, we're all entitled to our own opinions.

I guess they do need defense. Coutourier, B Schenn, Giroux, 11th and the keys to homers daughters bedroom.

Thoughts, to much? Fair? Not enough?

Again, that's not exactly their hometown, where family and friends would see them everyday and remind them of mistakes/missed opportunities. Learning the NHL game is hard enough without having to add hometown expectations/pressure on top of it at the start of your career.

It's called being realistic. I think gillis should acquire top end talent with 3 year ELC's the 7th Overall, and Klefbom accomplish that.

Couturier is up for a raise next year, Paajarvi this year, and out of those two I'd say Couturier is the most expensive option.

They can remove Schroeder and add the 24th overall, but that's another ELC the team is losing.

Enough of the draft, let's discuss draught.
- golfingsince

Tried a couple of Ontario brews recently, Mill Street Lemon Tea Beer and Original Organic Lager. The lager was a bit yeasty, almost nutty smelling but was a bit disappointing, not much flavor. The lemon tea beer was like drinking an iced tea with lemon, but with a beer twist. If I had a choice between drinking iced tea beer or plain iced tea I'd take the beer, but sorry Mill Street, I would pass on buying either I these.

Throw in a Bryzgalov bobblehead, a Bobby Clarke signed phallic garden gnome, and a cheesesteak smoothie and it's a done deal...

I haven't been very adventurous lately, so I've been drinking Czechvar. With this warm weather i think i'll try some summer brews, just need time to find a patio.

So Ballard and Edler gone
- Bieksa#3

I would hope Ballard is gone whether Edler is traded or not.

He's not a $4.2 million D and never will be one. Better to be rid of that contract.
