how else do i compare? even the last 3 years when giroux has been supposably dominate... marty still better in every category? - boltsfan48
Okay, first of all, St. Louis had decidedly worse numbers than Giroux in 2011-2012. Second, Giroux's only been in the league 5 years total. Your statistical arguments here are completely invalid. |

Anyone know a free app that will txt me any trades and draft pick as they happen?
Thanks - JVince11
if you have an iPhone, download TSN Tradecentre, it pushes updates whenever a trade happens. No idea if there's a draft app though |

Again, you're comparing all of these guys in the first few years of their careers, when they're just figuring out how to play the league, against St. Louis' prime seasons to substantiate your argument as to who's better now. Unless you're Sid, OV, Gretz, or Lemieux nobody is going to be better in years 1-3 than an established star in years 5-7.
Yours is an absurd argument. - oniremosewa
these are superstars coming right into the league playing top line minutes right away. marty wasnt that when he entered the league and he was still about the same as these guys during his first 5 years playing on terrible teams besides the cup year and the one before. |

This new blog really irritated me. Is Nabokav really that in demand that we need to trade for his rights and waste another asset, even a small one. Just wait til he's a free agent geez. And I also wouldn't touch him with a ten foot poll anyway. And what on earth could the Kings and Flyers be talking about now, considering the only player we really could have used went to Toronto last week. I've had enough of dealing with the Kings. |

Letang
Neal
for
3rd overall
Hedman
Purcell
Connolly - SuperHenderson13
Pittsburgh fans are out of their minds if they think the Pens will bring in a haul like that for Letang. |

For Letang AND Neal? Maybe something close to it.
I hope we can reach a deal with #58 though. |

craig button was the GM i think. he was kind of buried on the depth chart, can't remember why or who pushed him out in the end but yeah it was bad.
this was way before Marty was established as a superstar though, I think it still took a year or so in Tampa before that |

Fleury is poop. That team would be great with Miller. - weirdoh
the difference between MAF and Miller is not Letang.
if we want to talk about a miller for MAF type deal... fine.
but letang doesn't represent the margin between the two. |

I don't believe any of these rumours as all of the mentioned teams are hard against the cap. Look to the teams that have been fiscally responsible over the past couple years to make a splash tomorrow, and not the usual suspects that Eklund trots out. |

There were other stupid deals too...Dealt Marc Savard for nothing. Dealt Brett Hull for nothing....
Wasn't just Calgary though. Marty St Louis was exposed in the expansion draft and was passed over ( by 52 other picks) by Wild and CBJ's. Was then released and became UFA. |

this is true. still doesn't excuse the fact Button was a horrible GM but it's worth noting.
the Savard trade is haunting...IIRC they traded him because he didn't get along with the coach, Greg Gilbert, who got fired a month later anyway |

Wow. Interesting story Iggy's BFF Those bad trades made by management and not recognizing St.Louis as a player with star potential just pulled them back 10 years, at least!Crazy to think two expansion teams passed up on St.Louis. I know he was an unkown at the time but still.. |

the Savard trade is haunting because it basically was the ONLY opportunity the flames ever had for a great playmaking #1 center and they threw it away. - S Kaspar Rollins
cant really blame the flames on st.louis, yes they did let him go for nothing but he did go undrafted as well. |

lol good one... since giroux entered the league... he has 291 points.... st. louis in that same time has 407.... marty 132 goals to giroux 91.... marty 275 assists to giroux 200. - boltsfan48
Were you expecting Giroux to put up crazy numbers in his first few seasons? Get out of here lol. |

I read both names. Throwing Neal in their too isn't going to land Hedman, the 3rd, and Purcell all in the same package. Overpaying Letang will be enough punishment for whichever team lands him. |

Seriously
Plus, Giroux is still #4 in the league in total points over the past 4 seasons. The difference is Giroux is at the beginning of his career while St. Louis is not. |
